Some guys just don' t get the message here! Of course, you could punch and all that. And you can think theses performers are not good. And your fucking wrong. They known how to stand out of reach and how to do the right thing at the right moment. You don't prepare yourself for one situation; you prepare yourself to contrôle yourself and the environnement.
no relevance to street combat at all !!! at 0.31 what do you think the attacker will do with his left hand?? punch that guy straight in the jaw !! out cold
those are good tehniques too,but some situations u cant reach the nose the jaw and the eybrows.thats where this badass two step technique takes place.
Fuck this guy, why waste time on complicated maneauvers like that fancy arm bar when you could just smash his nose with your first and crack'em with a right hook? Hell, even eye gouges work.
this technigue is almost exactly the same as the medieval european fighting, the only difference is : instead of going between the arms to go over the arms and you don't neccisarily move your body to the (in this case) left. i don't remmember the master but probably talhoffer or ringeck.
I have actually put someone to the ground with irimi nage in an actual street fight so Aikido is useful even on the mean streets. Of course after he and I ended up on the ground my Brazilian jiu-jitsu kicked in and I ground and pounded him. My point is all arts have their good and their bad techniques in them but with continued study(25+ years for me) you learn to blend them together seemlessly to make a fighting art unique to only you.
That's cool...but...why did you go to the ground after the irimi nage? He didn't pull you down with him, I don't think. It sounds like you did that by choice since you knew BJJ.
We ended up on the ground due to uneven terrain and slippery conditions. I understand that balance is key to proper technique however in the heat of the moment even the greatest masters slip at some point.
if you maim him, you're going to have to work for the rest of your life to support him.
If you kill him, you're a murderer.
25+years of martial arts so that you can try to survive the next 25+ years in prison.
not to mention the effect of the trauma on the rest of society.
I am led to understand that this is why Aikido was modified from Aiki jujitsu, so that the victor didn't have to live with the hardship of having damaged their world
Aikido stresses control of the attacker. When you have uke's face in the pavement, you are in a position to kill him if you want. You can break his arm if you want, and there's nothing he can do about it. Show up to an aikido, hapkido, or any other system's class that was strongly influenced by jujutsu and you can have it demonstrated. Those systems stress control and they come down from the samurai, not the peasants. Sorry if that bothers anybody. Karate can work. Stresses strength over tech.
You have no idea how powerful shotokan karate punches are, do you ? Or kyokushin karate kicks for that matter. Every martial art has strengths and weaknesses. There's no such thing as perfect martial arts.
umm sry that was my little bro.. hes 7 so ya. but i think karate sucks. only kyokushin is good, im not saying its bad but ive seen those stupid karate dojo's near my neighborhood and all they do is punch over and over again and do there kata thing. its ridiculous, but im not saying its bad im just saying ive never seen a good karate martial artist..
I understand what you are saying, and I agree. But what Aikido is supposed to do is keep the defender AND the attacker safe from harm since this art was developed from a religious standpoint.
ha ha, you think that aikido is easy? try to do it real good. aikido is the only style where you put yourself in harmony with the attacker so your response will be same speed. see movies about how was the best master in aikido ueshiba morihei and then think about capoeira vs aikido
thats because its a normal response of the human body....is what i wanted to say. BUT, what i want to say even more, is for you to just try it. Shouldnt be too hard.
why dose the guy drop his other hand , its like yea you got one hand so im just going to let my thumb of ur wind pipe and fingers off ur blood vessel????
1. he's saving himself some pain. by letting go that left hand, he's giving his right hand more room to move. his main option would be to turn with the guy's body. but most people dumb enough to choke you like that wouldn't, by that time he's already jerked the guy's right hand.
2. when you turn, you're going against the thumb, which in itself isn't a very strong appendage. hence why its so easy to get out of most wrist grabs, even without some fancy technique.
actually out of all of thoes, in my opinion one of the best ways would be to move the attacker's body until it is twisted to the side, then attack them directly in the rib cage with a focused punch
Too many moves involved, this guy is full of theory and that's it

If that guy was a thief I would break his shoulders out of him and bang his head in the pavement because of the impact...

Who cares if you get punched in the face. To get a punch you have to take a punch.

Which one is more effective, twisting the assailant's hands as shown or simply punch the throat, strike the groin with your knee or simply kick him?
