@examsolutions...what do you do when the total of your number given after is a negative number..how can you inverse that...for instance cosx = 4^2 + 9^2-7^2/ 2 x 4 x 9 = -785?...please i need some help!
I dont know if you are a Examiner, but the first higher Edexcel gcse paper was the most hard one in 5 years (my teacher said that lol) and i hope i revise the right thing for the calc. paper.... THX MATE
thanks mate this has been a great help but i understand your cosine rule but i dont understand the one exams papers give could i just use the one you did instead?
@hannapaisley Make sure your calculator is in degrees mode. You should see a D on the screen for most calculators. Use the fraction button if not make sure you use brackets. Try again and see if you get the answer this time.
@hannapaisley I think I now see your problem. Type in the top line press equals as i think you are doing. Now press divide but use a bracket and enter the bottom line. Close bracket and press equals. Hope that works for you now.
if my teacher had just explained it like how you did, i would have understood it first time round, you have made me realise how rubbish my teacher!!!!! THANKS! :)
@ExamSolutions no i know you didnt, but im glad i found this video! did my prelim today, and found it quite (dont want to be too confident) easy!! :) thanks!

How do you actually put the data in the calculator because whenever i do your examples i don't get the same answer?

@ExamSolutions It is in degrees mode. I tried it with brackets and I still get 400 and something?
Where do you actually need to put the brackets to get the correct answer?
