VH1 classic is running these psa's over the weeekend as part of myv 30 th anniversery. While I appreciarte the person who posted this clip, the sound is way too low. I can't jack it up loud enough to hear it well. this clip runs in what the onscreen guide says is 'hour 12' at 14-15 minutes past the hour, so if someone can snag and post a better sunding clip that wouuld be great.
These where part of a series from Propaganda Films (Gondry was part of that music video company) There was another one with a passage from TS Eliot's Four Quarters (discussed here loveandrespect.se/2003/01/17/the-passage-of-time) That is never mentioned. A woman reads the passage while a candle is burning in time-lapse in the end. Anyone seen it?
Update: another of the Neil Burger directed, MTV's "Books: Feed Your Head" PSAs is on youtube. Search for "Sherilyn Fenn - Books Feed Your Head" or look on the right column. It is from the book "Delta of Venus" by Anaïs Nin and stars Sherilyn Fenn, very hot actress and book! Now, if only someone could go through their old VHS tapes and find the Aidan Quinn's Kafka's "The Metamorphosis" we'd have the set.
I think it's perfect. I saw it first on MTV, and hadn't read anything of Donald Barthelme before. And like the spot says "Books -Feed your head". So it want us to read more. Witch is a good thing. And besides being an invitation to read (more) books, it is also a movie version of his short story. And any new version of a medium (book,movie,Theatre,music a.s.o.) I bit welcome, as an open minded person.

OOOhhhh this brings back some good memories for me. There was another PSA with a very attrative chickadee reading Kafka's Metamorphasis. I would like to find that again.

I saw Barthelme when he came to UCLA in the early 80s. He read a couple wonderful stories. I only wish I had videotaped him and could put it on youtube.

i think donald barthelme is the most underrated american writer.
but you can't "act" it out timothy, it's weird enough on its own, just read it.
