Would you recommend the soft surface? or the hard surface?

Do the edges seem like they would frey over time? That seems to be the only issue i've had with my mouse pad

@Skunk2K20 it is really hard to explain but the edges wont fray. The material used isn't woven like a typical mouse pad it is like a fibrous plastic I honestly have never seen anything like it.
