Then you see Shogun handle him effortlessly and as if that wasn't enough insanity, here comes this 23 year old guy known as jonny bones and he makes shogun look like he never fought a day in his life. Great vid! Fedor and Shogun are my two favorites. Their era is all but over, but it sure was amazing. I still love to watch these guys do their thing. Pain is temporary, Pride is forever.
It's interesting that in the after fight walk out Emilianenko and his coach are talking about how Mirko's first kick was damaging, but Fedor's body shots were having an effect too. Then the coach adds, Mirko threw him several times, and Fedor says, there was nothing for it since he'd injured his hand again early in the fight.. The things you don't hear in the English version..

@BringthePain1000 when you are a lightheavyweight that has to cut 20 to 25 pounds to make that 205 mark it is not hard to gain 25 to 35 pounds on you in in 4 to 5 years like Overeem did it. Frank Mir gained about 30 pounds in a year and i hear nothing on him and that is 100% on that cos he has bigger fat percentage than Overeem. Hell even in overeems last fight he was 256 and in Franks last he was 260. Untill proven otherwise keep you false accusations to yourself.

@BringthePain1000 when you are a lightheavyweight that has to cut 20 to 25 pounds to make that 205 mark it is not hard to gain 25 to 35 pounds on you in in 4 to 5 years like Overeem did it. Frank Mir gained about 30 pounds in a year and i hear nothing on him and that is 100% on that cos he has bigger fat percentage than Overeem. Hell even in overeems last fight he was 256 and in Franks last he was 260. Untill proven otherwise keep you false accusations to yourself.

Yeah I totally understand, I'm sick of M-1 Global making Fedor look bad. In every single interview Fedor states that he will fight anyone ''Whoever is put in front of me, I'll fight''. But M-1 seem greedy and they ruining Fedor's legacy. I personally cannot think of any fighter in history who has more class, pride, as much work ethic & respect from their peers then Fedor Emelianenko. Hence why he'll be forever remembered as the greatest fighter to ever walk the planet.

I'm sorry to say it but ALOT of American fight fans have no respect at all. How anyone can discredit and disrespect Fedor Emelianenko is beyond me! The guy has been in some of the best fights ever, losing once in 8 years and still the fanboys call him overrated and past it? I do agree that his management is pretty dodgy but Fedor is and always wll be the greatest fighter to walk the planet. Name another fighter in the world who fights guys constantly 40lbs heavier than them? Its unheard of.

@cam4883 Huge Fedor fan. That said, the criticism about him being overrated permeates amongst new fight fans because he allows it. Not going to the UFC is perfectly fine, but not fighting the best in your own organization and only fighting 1 time a year is not good. Also, Fedor will not be the best fighter ever forever. Fedor is the George Mikan of MMA. I agree with the spirit of your post though. The ratio of educated to idiot fans is not good in America.

It is up to OTHER fighters to prove they are better, and so far, NO ONE has come close. He, nor I can help, nor CARE if the NEWB MMA fans complain about it, or dont understand it. If they dont spend the time to look at his old fights in their entirety, then they are not fans, but mere fad followers.

@TheCyndicate I'm certainly not questioning his legendary status. The question is whether or not he is the best in MMA circa 2010, soon to be 2011. People questioning his legendary status and accomplishments are not justified. But it IS reasonable to speculate about his relative standing in the here and now, given his recent lack of activity and his loss to Werdum (to a lesser degree). These are two very different issues that should not be confused.

@utubeaccount00 I think Cain would give him a very good fight. I'd like to see Overeem and Barnett fight top talent (in 2010), but I think they can challenge Fedor reasonably well skill for skill.
I just want Fedor to meet the skeptic's challenge, be more active, and not coast on reputation. He doesn't even have to go to the UFC. If he fought and beat Werdum, Overeem, and Barnett, that would go a long way.

When thats not exactly true, and I'm not liking the way they are saying Jon Jones is the Muhammad Ali of MMA when there was one already here he just never got the recognition he needed, plus Pride Fighting Championships was tougher and better than the UFC I guess most American fans will never know that since it's not around no more.
