Hey Ros- If it's not too invasive, can you tell me where you purchased the products to make you own pouch? I thought that was a really nice touch and it's something I've been considering for the longest time. I'd really appreciate it. Thank you.
@shysterlicious No problem at all! IIRC, I got everything online from Seattle Fabrics: webbing, elastic webbing, nylon material, velcro. If you can sew, or have the desire to, it really is a do-able project. Have fun and good luck!
Nice job! Very inventive with the "DIY" admin pouch. BTW, those singers are cool. My grandmother had one that was pedal powered and she made everything with it. Again great job. gave me some ideas.
After having read some of the reviews on this product, I'd like to see what you put in it and how it bulks up. Have you found a use for every pocket? Is it over designed? Is the material too think and stiff? What does it look like on a belt? Or is that not even practicable?
@Mikemenn If you bulk it up too much you can't get access to the outside pockets, at all. I don't use each and every pocket every time but when I do use it, some of my stuff fits in its designated pockets and the otehrs are used as I see fit. I wouldn't say every pocket is filled every time. Is it over designed...? Maybe, but there will be folks that need that design. IT guys come to mind with all their little tools and cables. On a belt? No. Too big.
If my sewing machine saw me coming with 500D fabric, it would scream! lol LOVE your mod for the NF. Beautiful job. It's fun to see someone obsessed by their EDC bags as much as I am. Again, great video with practical and helpful info. *hearty pat on the back*
first of all, I LOVE YOUR REVIEWS!!! im such a great fan
I want to try the M4 waistpack from maxped but ill use it for urban edc u know pens cellphone multitool, but the main pouch doesnt have any organizer at all, would u think that there is some organizer that i can put inside?? or maybe the monkey admin would fit inside the main pouch?? need advice!!!
Have being wondering, like others, what I should do with the flap that is on Neatfreak. If you put Maxpeditions EDC on that flap with 2 MALICE-clips, you will be able to get what you want in that without loosing everything cos it´s a clamshell.Placing the Neatfreak faced down the EDC will lie flat on to surface.
this was really a great review the best i've seen yet, u should really call up Maxpedition and let them know about your insert invention and get some commission off of it!!!!! i know i would buy one for sure!!!!! thanks for sharing keep the vids rolling please!!!!!!!!!
I attached two Triple Mag Holders to the velcro on the inner divider. I don't use them for mags though but for holding other things (flashlight etc.).
Great Review! I'm shopping around for an urban EDC right now and it's really a toss up between that and the Thermite (I saw your review as well). I dont get why Maxpedition doesnt make a larger version of the Thermite as they do the same with all their versipacks...
What are the chances of getting a custom ordered Roz-pouch if I bought a Neatfreak? ;) They should hire you as a consultant.
A larger Thermite...? Very interrrresting. Looks like MaxPed needs to hire YOU as their consultant! lol Thx for the nice words. It took me like 10 hours to make that admin pouch. I'm not very, uh, talented, with a sewing machine. ;-)
Those two straps on the back - the ones that catch on your belt - those are Molle stiff threaders. You would thread them through Pals or Molle webbing to attach the organizer to another pack, bag, tactical rig / vest, etc.
greetings from piney country ! been digging the vids , have helped with purchase/ no purchase dilemmas. I have a question on the para cord lanyard. Do you have instructions or a website that does? Thanks or the time, stay outside.
Hiya CF. Thx for checking on me while I was gone. Was very busy with work and school and didn't have time for fun or anything else. Hopefully can work on my queue of vids I want to kick out.
and the idea of making your own strap & admin pouch is great, and well executed
Any chance of a video of the making of your pouch?
I have thought about it too but thought I needed a commercial sewing machine for the nylon. Is that machine you have more powerful than a typical home machine?
Hi GBG. Yeah, I was thinking of doing a vid or two on that sewing machine. Need to find some good skills first but I think that'll be cool to show. Thx for your vids as well. You sold me on this NeatFreak.
Hmmm I just noticed that my khaki Remora is different from yours. Mine has black zippers and attachments.... Anyway awesome video like always , loved the Roz admin pouch, and yes I was surprised to see you owning a black Maxped. Keep up the good work.
Someone else one pointed that out. I got mine at a knife shop so don't know if it was an older model or what. I do really wonder which years had same color zips and when they went to black. Thx for the compliments Cuso.
Its amazing how a simple idea can make an otherwise good product 100X better. Please consider getting a patent on your homemade admin pouch and contact Maxpedition. You never know-you could be the next Mil-Spec Monkey!
Since you've got access to various maxpedition stuff it made me wonder - can you borrow something in foliage green and foliage khaki colors? I can't find a single picture of those, I am going to buy colossus quite soon and I wonder how much different is foliage green from standard olive. By the way - check out this colossus bag, it turns up to be pretty awesome on a closer inspection.
Heya .45. My falcon II vids have a foliage/khaki bag in the bunch. Almost all of my bags are in the all-foliage color. FG has more gray in it and olive has more green, I guess. Good luck with the colossus.
Thanks, gotta revisit those vids, but it seems I'll get me a FG. BTW it's cynik, I added the ".45" since original nick was taken. I live in Poland, so any kind of firearms is way beyond my reach unfortunately.
Oh give me a break Roz :) 45 is illegal here even for those who were lucky and rich enough to get a permission to own a firearm, AFAIR same goes for the law enforcement officers. Good thing we're still allowed to carry knives as opposite to the UK. Anyway shoot some rounds for me sometime.
Roz -- Outstanding review and I really like the "Roz Admin Pouch". The tailoring and craftsmanship look fantastic. You should be very proud of yourself as that's an amazing skill you have there.
Thx Speed. Not too long, I'd say ~ 1hr. It takes alot of paracord, 1 ft per 1 inch of strap. ie. a 40" strap needs 40' cord. Then I used two colors so I used ~80' total. Kinda challenging to work with such long cord but its fun and totally worth the final product.
99% of bag makers don't understand "verticality". That with normal bag designs, all your stuff winds up in a pile at the bottom of the bag.
If only they put more pockets and structure at the top of the bag (taking advantage of otherwise neglected vertical space), bag users could distribute their gear more vertically evenly, have a thinner bag, have structured access to their gear, etc.
The NeatFreak does a moderately good job with verticality and Roscoe makes it even better.
Wow, THX Warden! Yes, you're right about utilizing the upper part of a vertical bag. I never bought purses like that either. This velcro attachment aspect has great possibility to maximize the space of this and other bags that have lotsa interior velcro (ie. Larkspur, Active Shooter Bag).
Ros going to go and buy one now. I think you owe me about $100 lol
