I have never been the type to watch a soap opera, but when BBC America started palying tis one! I fell for it. I especailly love the john paul and craig story line. It brings so many happy and painful memories back for me. See when I was 18 I was in John Pauls shoes, loving a guy who I knew loved me and often showed it but still even today he clams he is straight. I had ot finally give him up for my sake and found someone who could be happy being who they are.

I have to say that it makes 1987 (my grade 12) seem eerily close again. Falling in love with the my friend was a tough way to start adult life. He was straight, I survived. I can't imagine how much a show like this would have meant to me back then! I envy the young generation today that can find affirmation of their own stories in pop culture now. Even a soap opera can have a world of importance to an isolated gay 17 year old.
