Man the time that must have went into making the music for games back then. The underwater theme just blows my mind

When i was teen i did speedrun of this (under 1 hour, kong -letters, no die), but on first attempt i did die off on the scene 8.02 on this video... It is much harder level than people assumes, instead everybody tend losing life on the first snow level that is extremely hard also, but patience is the key.

I have always loved the underwater soundtrack and that in combination with the background artwork in the underwater levels makes for a nostalgic/psychedelic experience! :D I wonder what it would be like if I watched and listened on acid? Not that I do acid, I just wonder.

That was my favourite level when I was kid. The music and scenery are just amazing!

Great job by the way! You breeze through the levels like they're nothing.This game was impossible to me when I was young, and even nowadays it still gives me a challenge.

How come you had 9 lives last video but you have 5 in this one.

Because when you save the game, it resets back to the default, 5 lives. So you'll see that in each of the parts.

ahhh love it, brings back memories, but damn dude thats pretty crazy twitch-action at its finest, no idea there were that many shortcuts in the game i knew of a few, but damn...

The GBA version is a bit more difficult..the controls aren't as user friendly.

i know this game is not easy though... i know practice makes perfect, but i could never beat this game. i would get to chimp caverns and die there.

Yes but it took awhile and I saved at each save point. This game never gets boring for me, I might actually redo this run soon.

@RadxxRyan you play similiar to me ( speed / boost roll, roll jumping ) except that i almost dont use any warps / shortcuts.. would be cool if we could play dkc online :)

The kind you buy in the store. Pye brand for $80 works great and I use blank DVD+RW discs because its the only one that my PC recognizes.

Nope, has to be a recorder. I got the cheapest one for $80, but you might find some cheaper now.

Great job on the speed run. I think this is probably the first non-TAS run I've seen of this game. And you shocked my in the cave, seeing you actually GOT the bird with the light AND saved! Overly serious speed-runners never do that. :-O
