happy birthday to me'he knows your alone'the burning and my bloody valentine 1981 were all really good movies the prowler and madman were bad but good at the same time but i didn't care for any of the others but i do think that another great some what underrated slasher is i know what you did last summer as much as the movie is popular i dont think it gets the respect it deserves.
WTF are FILX?? LOL! Pretty cool video. Some great films, but im struggling to understand why you would class some of these films as "underrated". So glad to see madman on this list. Film slasher film i ever saw! Madman IS underrated but wot the hell is the sauna scene all about?? Bit of a loose canon that scene! For some great slasher films, some underrated too, check out my vid "53 Great Slasher, Stalk n Slash Films". Check out any other vid if ya like ;)
I love The prowler, defo one of my fav slashers. Not seen intruder, will be sure to check it out. Happy Birthday to me is a pretty desent slasher, needs to be in the collection. I love madman, very underated. Ooo not seen Curtains Chris!, Oo sorry! i meen Doug...lol. Again i will have to check it out. Don't go in the woods!!??, not sure about that one dude....lol.. I liked terror train, love JLC. Pieces rocks!!!. The last 3 are amazing, love em all.. Top job Doug and Justin 5*
Great list man, I really love slashers too. You talked about Don't Go in the Woods, I was wondering if you've heard of a indie Slasher/ Musical with the same name. It's directed by Vincent D'Onofrio, and it's a really cool film. I seen it at a film festival, I don't know if you know but I collect 16mm film prints, and I've been after a copy of He Knows You're Alone, I lost two bids on ebay for it. I really love the opening scene too, have you notice the similarities to the opening of Scream 2?
I came across thsi randomly and now I am glad! If I could find these VHS versions in thrift stores I'd be on cloud nine! I like rare things and I like original releases. And what can I say? I like cover art! Great list except don't go in the woods alone that movie is just plain horrible. HORRIBLE O_O It's IMDB rating is bad too >_> Oh and that Black Christmas cover art is horrid. The VHS one is 10X better with the girl in window, great update!
Curtains is very underrated! They released it on this god-awful budget DVD over at Wal-Mart. The quality is horrid, it looks like a 240p youtube bootleg, AND they changed the cover to whoreshit. I agree, the film deserves so much better. And this is comin' from a guy who hates most of the Vestron Video Catalog! PIECES!!! Wonderful slasher! Awesome list, I gotta say :D
YESSS!!! i think it was the tv spot for dont go in the house that i saw on one of your walls, and i went to amazon and bought it instantly! thanks so much for letting me know about that one! i'll def let you know what i think.. pieces is GREAT! gotta love the pants wetting scene.. it was awesome seeing/hearing you guys together in a video! and thanks so much for the shout out, you guys rock my world!! :) (2/2)
Hi Justin! Dougie these are all some of the best slashers, nice choices.. LOVE the prowler.. u gotta get it on blu-ray, the picture quality is noticeably better! that movie has always been a dark one, but the blu-ray is a godsend! did you ever buy that 4 pack with curtains? if so, how is the quality compared to your fleshwoundvideo? (1/2)
I really like The Prowler. I don't see why theres a lot of hate for it. I have always heard good things about Intruder, but never had the opportunity to check it out, might have to soon! I freakin' love Madman! The atmosphere, lighting, and the theme song, always get me, and legit creeps me out. Great Video!
I LOVE He Knows You're Alone! I agree, it has a great feel to it, especially the obvious Halloween/Michael Myers "ripoff" vibe (i.e. the music, the look and facial expression of the killer, the suspense, etc). The opening was great too, and you can see where Scream 2's opening got it's influence from. The openig credits also reminded me of the Naked Gun movies. My only gripe is the unclear ending, where you don't know for sure what happened to the killer. But overall, great slasher.
My Bloody Valentine & Black Christmas Are Great Canadian Horror Flicks! The Burning Is AMAZING! Some Of It Was Filmed In Canadian, But Mainly An America Film. The Prowler, Pieces & Madman Are Great Picks For This Video To, Great Vid!
Doug and Justin in one video? Too much awesome to handle. Sweet video Doug. Your videos always put me in the mood for slasher. Have to check most them out for the first time.
awesome video, i love slashers, but theres a load i have yet to see, and this video reminded me for a few. that burning dvd looks awesome, i love dvd covers with the original poster art
I love slashers the best. I have all these on dvd or vhs. Final Exam from 1981 is my fave though of low budget slashers. Offerings from 1989 is corny but I love it too which is a Halloween ripoff.
I need to check out Intruder, apparently it's getting a re release from Synapse next year. Don't Go in the House is incredibly underrated, a lot of the imagery reminds me of nightmares I had when I was younger...I don't know if that's a good thing but it creeped the hell out of me! I remember the first time I watched pieces, what a night!
Seen most of those, with the exception of Curtains, He Knows your Alone and Pieces, must pick up that last one. Anything with chainsaws and boobs has got to be a winner!
I believe the US DVD of "Happy Birthday..." is the cut R rated version, the old UK VHS apparently had a few extra snippets of gore.
great stuff man. love it
