to duanedragon2...you're correct. They are rubbish street cars. That's because they were created for the track. Anyone who drives one of these on the street is a moron. It takes extreme skill to drive any early porsche factory racer and get it around a road course without losing the rear end.
Regarding your ignorant claim that they suck...all those trophys from years gone by at the Porsche factory puts that ridiculous claim to rest.
@snowboarder74 Plus, the 911 is the only car in the world who has been successful in every aspect of the word for almost 50 years with the same silhouette, being able to battle and beat the most sophisticated sports cars of all times and as snowboarder74 says, collecting more overall victories than any other sports car manufacturer in the world. Yes, they need to be rubbish because they're intended to be driven hard, not as showcases as other so called sports cars!!!!

I'm pretty sure 99% of the people commenting on this are under 17 and have never seen one of these cars in real life let alone driven one. They are rubbish streetcars. Much like any other factory homoligation cars they lacked even basic comforts, had roll-up plastic windows, no sound dampening, went out of tune on the drive home, and while they were still being paid off got clobbered by cars costing significantly less. They were not magical supercars. They were rude Beetles.
I'm pretty sure(99% to be precise...) that you're the one who's under 17 and have never seen one of these cars in real life, let alone drive one...If-by some cruel twist of fate I'd say...-you've driven one of these, well then...the sad reality is that you're the "rubbish thing" in the equation and NOT the car my dear friend...Go buy a Subaru or sth with 600bhp,with a SAT/NAV/DVD/MP3/WMA/CASSETE/CD/VINYL PC Mediastation and please don't forget that massive SUBWOOFER for those crazy nights...
OH...And definitely don't forget to tick that box in the options-list which reads:"Cup Holder"...You know...For that cup of "l a t t e" of yours while doing 350km/h on a straight line!
My das RS was stolen :( It wasn't an original RS body but it had the RS engine +6 carbs and open headers. My dad used a 911 body but he had a 75 back bumper & the RS replica front bumper.the bumpers where silver (with no rumber trim.)And the stripe along the side was silver as well with the whole cars body being black god I miss riding around in it...
a genuine rsr very rare and worth a awefull lot of money i know this as i work in a porsche garage :-p and yes the launch was pretty typical but i have seen a lot better.
The driver was not at all about to stall the motor. If you've ever driven a 911, that's a pretty typical "controlled" launch. Nothing unusual. He's not trying to bake the wheels off.
an original 911 RS 2.7 in top-condition is about 350.000 € in Germany... But I'm not sure if it is the touring or sports-edition, maybe the RS 2.7 S is even more expensive, as only a few survived. Of about 1500 cars built (both T & S), 1000 were crashed (mainly in racing), sad but true. In my opinion most amazing car ever!!!
These cars were made to be raced man. Sweet car. Don't worry about the start, you must hace forgotten that everyone on YouTube is a race car driver. hahaha. props to you for using that car for what it was made to do...drive.
Check out my site about a 74 911 replica project. Done now - it's nothing but fun!! 74911RS-dot-com... check it out!

Winning the lottery would be the easy part.... finding an original RSR that someone is willing to sell would be so difficult.
