well, I'd guess ASOIAF is all about that there are no true villains or heroes, it's more that we are all coloured in a different shade of grey even if we take the black (appologies, but this one I had to make). I really, really hope the Lannister brothers (Jaime & Tyrion) to survive a little longer, for I like that "fallen star" Jaime at least since his journey with Brienne - and Tyrion I already loved as I thought of all Lannisters as evil

I often wonder if crazy makes the hair change somehow to be ruffled. I've had an increase in scalp problems, and I cannot get my hair back. These people all look crazy. Too much inbreeding, though it's neat when a family can keep up awhile.

@JLHayes13 Daenerys will have to husbands, for she has two holes (well, actually three if you count the mouth, but I guess you could also count her dead kal Dhrogo). As for Jon, I think he will have gay relationships. You noticed his affection for Silk and Samwell Tarly? That's an indication. Also Martin gives hints to the reader which characters he prefers to live and which he will let die. Characters who are too much to the extremes of good or evil the author sorts out.
Eddard would never have dishonored himself by cheating on his wife but he WOULD dishonor himself to keep his promise to his dying sister Lyanna. Jon Stark is Lyanna and Rhaegars love child and thus a Targaryen. Lyanna was supposed to be married to Robert but that was an arranged marriage so she probably fell in love with Rhaegar, they may have even married. Eddard knows that Robert would kill Jon if he knew he was a Targaryen.
The Lannister men (not Joff he's a "boy") are perhaps the most interesting characters. Tywin, Kevan, Jamie and Tyrion. The men are simply on the "bad" side (up for interpretation.). Tywin did what he thought was protecting his house and the realm. From his POV his cause is just. Catelyn kidnapped his son, Eddard betrayed the "rightful" king and Stannis accuses his children of incest.
I don't mind Martin making me hate a character. In AGoT, you hated Jaime, but for good reason. He was still a strong character. In AFFC, I always felt George just didn't know where he was going with Cersei's plotline so he just made her a paranoid nutjob and threw in that whole thing about her past and the fortune teller just to keep the plot moving. She was a good villian in the first few books. In AFFC, she wasn't a good villian, she was just a bad character in my opinion.
After reading the book A Feast of Crows, I began to hate the character Cercei. She was so damn foolish to believe that everyone bends to her will, and don't have a will of their own. She continued to call everyone useless but she really was the dolt. Ugh. Man. She just one of those characters, when you continue reading you hate her more. x(
"the villains aren't stupid." No, they aren't. It's the "Good guys" who are stupid. Eddard Stark being a prime example. And House Lannister is definitely the house with the most interesting characters in my opinion.

It may have cost him, but he made the decisions he made knowing the outcome and that makes him a billion times the man of the lannisters. @CarneHosse I think that Jon Snow may be the son of Lyanna and Rhaegar, since Eddard never wanted to mention who the mother was. If the mother was from a tryst or from the one Lady then I don't think he would have been so guarded about it. Also Lyanna was a sore topic for him.
Anyone else here wish for Tommen to grow into a great king? It would make a rather interesting contrast after that fuck-up of an older brother of his.

Well... If I remember correctly, Eddard didn't outright say that it was Wylla, it was all other people's speculations. As for the squire, he's just one of the people who told Arya about the rumors. Eddard never said that Jon was his bastard, he only said that Jon was 'of his blood'.

The ratings are fun. Tyrion is my favorite character in the books, one of my two favorite fictional characters ever (along with "Half-cocked" Jack Shaftoe from "The Baroque Cycle"). I'd rate Tywinn higher though; despite his utter ruthlessness, from a certain point of view one could see him as actually working to lessen the effects of the war. The Red Wedding, horrible as it was, saved the lives of thousands who didn't have to die in battle after that.

As for Jon, I think he will have gay relationships. You noticed his affection for Silk and Samwell Tarly? That's an indication. Also Martin gives hints to the reader which characters he prefers to live and which he will let die. Characters who are too much to the extremes of good or evil the author sorts out.

Eddard would never have dishonored himself by cheating on his wife but he WOULD dishonor himself to keep his promise to his dying sister Lyanna. Jon Stark is Lyanna and Rhaegars love child and thus a Targaryen. Lyanna was supposed to be married to Robert but that was an arranged marriage so she probably fell in love with Rhaegar, they may have even married. Eddard knows that Robert would kill Jon if he knew he was a Targaryen.

The Lannister men (not Joff he's a "boy") are perhaps the most interesting characters. Tywin, Kevan, Jamie and Tyrion. The men are simply on the "bad" side (up for interpretation.). Tywin did what he thought was protecting his house and the realm. From his POV his cause is just. Catelyn kidnapped his son, Eddard betrayed the "rightful" king and Stannis accuses his children of incest.

I don't mind Martin making me hate a character. In AGoT, you hated Jaime, but for good reason. He was still a strong character. In AFFC, I always felt George just didn't know where he was going with Cersei's plotline so he just made her a paranoid nutjob and threw in that whole thing about her past and the fortune teller just to keep the plot moving. She was a good villian in the first few books. In AFFC, she wasn't a good villian, she was just a bad character in my opinion.

After reading the book A Feast of Crows, I began to hate the character Cercei. She was so damn foolish to believe that everyone bends to her will, and don't have a will of their own. She continued to call everyone useless but she really was the dolt. Ugh. Man. She just one of those characters, when you continue reading you hate her more. x(

It may have cost him, but he made the decisions he made knowing the outcome and that makes him a billion times the man of the lannisters. @CarneHosse I think that Jon Snow may be the son of Lyanna and Rhaegar, since Eddard never wanted to mention who the mother was. If the mother was from a tryst or from the one Lady then I don't think he would have been so guarded about it. Also Lyanna was a sore topic for him.

Well... If I remember correctly, Eddard didn't outright say that it was Wylla, it was all other people's speculations. As for the squire, he's just one of the people who told Arya about the rumors. Eddard never said that Jon was his bastard, he only said that Jon was 'of his blood'.
I tend to lean on Rhaegar and Lyanna theory too.

No the squire said they were "milk brothers". They both used Wylla as a wet nurse. Which doesn't through out the Lyanna theory, in fact it strengthens it
Ned went to starfell after he had killed the sword of the morning, which is when Lyanna died. So obviously baby john needed a wet nurse, which was Wylla who served the Payne's at starfall

The R+L=J theory, I definitely agree with it and Jon definitely could have got his looks from Lyanna. She is described as having the classic Stark looks, like a female version of Ned, and Arya is described as looking exactly like her when she was a child.

The ratings are fun. Tyrion is my favorite character in the books, one of my two favorite fictional characters ever (along with "Half-cocked" Jack Shaftoe from "The Baroque Cycle"). I'd rate Tywinn higher though; despite his utter ruthlessness, from a certain point of view one could see him as actually working to lessen the effects of the war. The Red Wedding, horrible as it was, saved the lives of thousands who didn't have to die in battle after that.
