To succeed it's not just about passion the tennis players have to keep playing even when they hate tennis. You have to keep doing hard work even when you don't like it that is how to succeed. Tennis players that give up when the joy is join because it is hard work never make it. Of course not everyone can be a protennis player you have to figure out what you are good at and figure out how to be better at it, be it math, writng, business, sales, manuel labor, or whatever.
You just said some basic statements which I;ve know for all my life. It's good to be passioned about what you do. I agree but what if you're in depression and just don't know how to get out of it and you have no interest in anything, you don't want anything. what do you do then? Where does the passion come from? How to become passionate and ethusiastic? Those are more interesting questions.
How the crap did this get linked to the RSA? That video just robbed me of all the motivation I've ever had in my life. Try adding some passion to your video in future.
Not trying to be a downer. but this video is just stupid. It doesnt really say anything that isnt obvious, like "hey when you feel like shit, think about something you like to make your feeling like shit feel less shitty" Maybe someone in the world hasnt figured out this trick yet. Wait. No. They have ...when they were babies .... just like the rest of us
I became magnetic a while ago, and boy, is it ever a pain! I can't go outside anymore without coins sticking to me. Sure, it's handy for buying stuff from vending machines, but bystanders often have to save me from being smothered by the load of metal I accumulate. Moreover, cars tend to get off course when I'm around. The amount of accidents I must have caused is immense!
Studies have shown that those with an internal locus of control are substantially more successful and live happier lives than those with an external locus of control. Now of course passion doesn't equal success but somehow it always seems to be a key determinant on the way there. Finding out how to use it and setting goals that use that fuel is the real challenge but the great things in life are worth the effort! Great video !
Everyone whos commenting scrutinizing this video for just pushing thinking positively as the way to achieve your goals you rly ARENT hearing the message. its saying, think about what you love to do and do it. if you're PASSIONATE about sumthing, and you put in the time effort and HARD WORK, you will achieve great things. an ideal that i completely agree with. I dont think its optimistic mumbo jumbo, i think its quite realistic.
@01theone02 so true so true there have been many articles and citings that find most successful people pursure something that they are passionate and what they LOVE to do to where they would still give the same output of effort as if not getting paid! So i agree this video post is quite REALISTIC!
@01theone02 You might want to be an artist but you have to pay bill until you make money at it so you have to have a plan how to get by before you can succeed. If you want to run your own business you need to earn money first as it takes, time, money, reasearch, etc to figure out how to make it succeed. So need motivation but also need a logical approach to it. However just being motivated doesn't guarentee success but no motivation guarantees failure.
Thank you everyone who has commented on this PASSION video especially those who brought up other essential keys of DEDICATED WORK, PLANNING, EFFORT and DETERMINATION for achieving dreams and goals. I completely agree and will add this to the next Motivatorman Minute video. This was always the plan for a series as only so much information can be said in 60 seconds. Thanks again.
@hellomotivatorman In what way was this mindless dribble educational or motivational, just sick and twisted.
Big deal if a couple of the 1%ers RICHPEOPLE have claimed great results how did it go for the palastinians or the people in Iraq or maby you should go tell all the sick kiddies of the world that they just need to think posative a little more.
What a recipe for disaster! Passion is a motivator. It does raise emotional energy. But the emotional energy is like fuel in the car not a magnet. It does not 'attract' your goals. It gives you the drive to do something about it. What you propose encourages people to feel good, but do nothing and nature will reward them. Bollocks. Without effort and determination passion is a dream, or even a nightmare.
The danger with this garbage is that there are lots of people who are struggling with this or that problem and may listen to this crap. Asking them to focus on what makes them passionate is cruel since they may feel passionate about nothing. Then, guess what? The problem is them! Horrible. Better to focus on identifying a goal and breaking down the steps they need to take to get to it. Sometimes the truth is boring. So, Motivatorman, are you willing to defend what you say or are you a charlatan?
@pablo4115 Why is it so horrible for people to take responsibility for the way their lives are? Is it more acceptable to take ownership over your life when you're happy than when you're unhappy with how things are at the moment?
I think you may have misread what I wrote. I complained about the psycho-babble and the focus on passion. But I also suggested breaking tasks down into manageable chunks, which suggests taking steps to help oneself.
@pablo4115 Yes, you're absolutely right about taking action to achieve your dreams and goals. And you might be surprised to find this to be an important aspect of the "psycho-babble" when you study it more. :)
Adopting a sophomoric patronizing attitude makes you look silly. Did you need to be told that? But you also seem to willfully misread me. Don't you know what 'psycho-babble' refers to? If you think that it refers to reliable psychological literature on how to deal with life's difficulties, then you are greatly mistaken.
@pablo4115 Now I know why only 1% of people actually comment on social media sites (like YouTube) – they’re afraid of being judged or even intellectually attacked for sharing their opinions! I have a university degree in Psychology and I see (and have experienced) more value in this type of information than what I learned from school. We obviously have different perspectives and because it feels as if you’re looking for a fight, I respectfully withdraw from this conversation.
Now I know why only 1% of people actually comment on social media sites (like YouTube) – they’re afraid of being judged or even intellectually attacked for sharing their opinions! I have a university degree in Psychology and I see (and experience) more value in this type of information than from my formal education. We obviously have different perspectives and because it feels as if you’re looking for a fight, I respectfully withdraw from this conversation.
This video is part of a movement that over-emphasizes self-reliance. If you don't have a job, it's because you lack passion. So, failure is ultimately the outcome of a personal deficiency. I don't buy that nor its corollary: success is all mine! We should be modest when things go well for us. I'm fortunate to have a reasonably well-paid job. Sure, I worked very hard to get to where i am but I'm fortunate too. Lots of people don't get the support and opportunities that I had.
@pablo4115 People take what they want from any information presented to them. It's a choice to use the info to affirm a low self-esteem & blame oneself (or even others/the world) for not having the life you want. Yes, you can use it as an excuse to prevent change & perpetuate unhappiness. OR, you can be empowered by it & do what you can to improve your life. Challenges are unique to individuals & there to help us grow. Support & opportunities are there for everyone if they choose to see them.
More fortune cookie wisdom. Asserting things doesn't make them so. So, the child being raped or the woman being battered or the man dying in agony are all guilty of not choosing to see support and opportunities for growth? The soldier who wakes up screaming every night because of PTSD is guilty of lacking passion? Have a heart, please.
@pablo4115 People overcome pain and sorrow every day. Discovering my passions, honouring them & subscribing to some of the philosophy from which this passion video tip originates has helped me through some very dark times. It’s also helped me create a life I love, including an evolving career out of my passions. This tip may not resonate with some people, but it’s definitely helped me and others I know.
RESPONSE Part 1 of 3 - Firstly, thank you for sharing your thoughts about my passion video. Just so you know there is a lot of passion in all your comments. Passion is defined as a powerful emotion such as love, joy, hatred or anger. If you chose you could actually redirect the energy of your comments into a book or an article. This is the main point of my passion video: PASSION IS FUEL.
@pablo4115 RESPONSE Part 2 of 3 - I also agree that dedicated work, planning and strategizing are other important factors for achieving goals and dreams. The point my video is making is that it all starts with FEELING the positive emotional energy of passion. Many successful individuals have already stated that passion is a primary ingredient to their success. People like STEVE JOBS, BILL GATES, J.K. ROWLING, OPRAH and even EINSTEIN all attest to this.
@pablo4115 RESPONSE Part 3 of 3 - Why not apply your own beliefs now? Make constructive use of your passion you’ve expressed for my video AND apply them into other mediums such as a local newspaper article or community newsletter. You may discover more like-minded people there.
I believe I did. I used my passionate response to your video to draw attention to how much it trivializes what can be serious problems. I listened to a middle-aged unemployed woman on the radio recently in tears of frustration and worry. Worry because she has no job and frustration because she is working so hard to get one. Do you want to tell her she lacks passion when they come to repossess her house?
@pablo4115 By stander response 1 of 2 Everyone feels passionate about something. And you are correct that without the proper tools they may have trouble knowing what that is and blame themselves. That's exactly why I'm a Life Coach. It's not only that people don't know their passions, it's that many of us have been told to ignore them and focus on something more practical. Les Brown (Motivational Speaker), Steve Jobs, Picasso were all at one point told they were foolish.
You've misunderstood me. I was not saying that without the proper tools a person may not realize what his/her passion is. Frankly, I'm surprised you could have read my posts and thought that. I was saying that this exclusive focus on passion is nonsensical since so many more things go into success.
@pablo4115 Part 2/2 Everyone who succeeds does so because they believe they can; then they get support from others/universe. As an employer you want passionate not compliant employees even when they are moping your floors. Passion thrives on passion creating space for more opportunities and growth. - If you don't know what your passion is, and I believe we all know one thing we're passionate about, reach out, there are tons of folks like me out here who want to help you find it/achieve it.
I'm very fortunate. I have a well-paid job that many would love to have and I worked incredibly hard for it. But I was incredibly lucky too. I had supportive friends etc over the years. I am not about to tell less fortunate people that if they lacked such good fortune it was their fault. There are passionate, hardworking people who just don't get the breaks. If you don't see that, then I have no idea why you think you can advise people on how to live.
There is evidence from psychological studies that being positive does not get you what you want. It makes you feel good, sure. But it is not an effective way to get to your goal. Sadly, systematic hard work is what is needed. That's not to say that being positive is irrelevant but if you think that being positive will, say, "magnetize your financial goals", then you are in for a disappointment. Hard work within a reasonably fair system is one's best hope not hysterical happiness.
Empty, technical-sounding nonsense. At best he's saying, "try to focus on what you enjoy" at worst, it's "if you don't get what you want in life, you should blame yourself for not being passionate and positive enough." Barbara Ehrenreich does a nice job of shooting darts through this kind of nonsense.
"...can activate your positive emotional energy..." "...you then become energized..." "...you can magnetize your financial goals..." or you can throw your laptop out the window in frustration after listening to this gobble-de-gook.
I think this all sounds nice, but let's be real, being passionate about something, alone, does not magically equal success. In reality, if there is something for which we have a talent, and a passion, then we must set a goal which provides a way to incorporate it into our life, then practice our ass off and work EXTREMELY hard to turn our TALENT into SKILL (very different things). You must then APPLY, and probably the most important of all is to LEARN FROM FAILURE, get back up, and try again.
These videos will be eloquently placed at bus stops in the fascist state. It will be mandatory you watch it as well. Anytime you're down, turn that frown upside down. Be happy. Because we said so.
Most people get this idea. What's missing is how to find your passion and practical ideas about how to connect this to your career. Any thoughts there?
@adsjwood Excellent question! Key is to do what you can to express your passion to the world e.g. writing, any job related to passion. Check out movie Julie & Julia, based on 2 true stories of 2 women who love food found successful careers from this passion. One wrote a book and the other a blog. Lots of other examples out there, read the bios of successful people you admire and find out what their passion is.
There is a basic truth here people will die for causes we all love passionate people the alternative is boring people boring people who are successful are just boring people to ease the boredom many just give their money away so they have the excuse to be passionate about something.
@Dawsonthree I have written many articles on passion on my Movies That Motivate blog that can help you. There is a direct link to one article in the description under the video.
I find this video too ... plain, and as a result, not working for me. Motivating people isn't just saying positive things. It needs thinking, deep, deep thinking-triggering elements.
i thought you might like this too, some day i hope to make a personal testomony for this...i'm sure it'll come much easier to you if you give it a try you'd be suprised how well the magnetism thing works...~PJ

Yes and the sky is blue and water is wet, I truly needed someone to point out the obvious. If only the world were this simple
Food + movies = passions triggered = fairy tales coming true. I lol at your video.

The Norwegian philosopher Arne Naess set up this equation for the importance of passion:
Level of Thriving = (Passion^2) / Bodily pain + Mental pain

These videos will be eloquently placed at bus stops in the fascist state. It will be mandatory you watch it as well. Anytime you're down, turn that frown upside down. Be happy. Because we said so.

Tripe...pure tripe. If one becomes magnetic, one's head would stick to the refrigerator.

Most people get this idea. What's missing is how to find your passion and practical ideas about how to connect this to your career. Any thoughts there?
adsjwood 1 year ago

There is a direct link to one article in the description under the video.

.Overly simplistic, and a basic rehash of the manipulative nonsense found in The Secret.

I find this video too ... plain, and as a result, not working for me. Motivating people isn't just saying positive things. It needs thinking, deep, deep thinking-triggering elements.
