Ok, I had to watch this twice, which in itself is no surprise, nor a bad thing, only that I had to watch it a second time because the first time I was too distracted by all those insensitive tools walking back and forth in plain sight behind the stage, behaving like bulls in a china shop. How little respect can one have for art?
I got a notification about a reply to my comment on this video... I have never seen this video before. I hope someone didn't get into my account! anyway, this is so amazing the whole thing was beautiful!
The audience doesn't suck. Ballet shouldn't be a circus, with people clapping and cheering when dancers do difficult things. It's an ART, so for me it's great that they remained silent, and appreciated in silence the beauty of Alina's moves.
stop being fools. stop wasting time wondering if it is good or not for the dancer to be applauded in the middle in the beginning or end of the presentation that goes each, and for the public to remain silent not say they did not like is an attitude or way of them see the art! what matters is that ALINA is Divine! See her dance brings peace

I don't know about this audience. I understand that maybe they feel it's more respectful for the dancer to only clap at the end...but still...if I had been there, I would have broken my hands clapping and my vocal chords by screaming BRAVO!!!!! They just clapped. Only a few said bravo or stood up. This was so amazing. I looooove Alina. She is sooo adorable and amazing.
The performance took place in Nørre Vosborg, Jutland, Denmark. I know this, because I spend all my holidays nearby, and I remember the Entrance Gate..... It is just amazing.... as a big fan of the royal opera ballet I find out that their primaballerina did a performance in the abandoned region of Ulfborg.

personally, I loved the performance. Just shows how true professionals handle themselves in any situation. My favorite though is the stage hand walking back and forth with a roll of duct tape and everything. obviously he had no regard for the performers.

At 3:04 the tour jete was a very low and safe maneuver, considering the wet slippery floor! Where was this place? I used to dance on outdoor performances too and on many kinds of stage (square, wobbly, etc) floors. I have experienced many kinds of audiences & accepted their appreciation or reactions (or none) & took them all as communication between me & them. Whether they clap or not at certain clap traps, it does not matter as long as they see your work & what you have offered to them.
jesus.... where was it? they're absoultely professional.... can't wait to see her in Hong Kong this November, shame that Kobborg is not coming with her !!!
There's so much conversation going on between them in this "dance-of-the-cold-shoulder" -- the balnces and turns aren't featured any more than the flirtation, which is exactly like petting a cat: suddenly she's had enough and has moved away before you know it, and just as suddenly she's interested again. AND it's outdoors and in the rain (well-lit, though).
@1psoas9 I agree with this statement although I'm no where near an expert in ballet, I think it looks exactly like petting a cat, elegant and graceful she comes forward and at the next moment before he can comprehend what is happening, slyly shy, she mischievously plays coy. Almost like she's mocking him just to enjoy his torment. Superbly done, especially in the rain. And, lol, it is well lit, the quality isn't that bad either :)
Oh my gosh, this is such perfection and such an unappreciative audience! I can barely watch when Alina pulls off something completely otherworldly and amazing and the audience doesn't respond at all! Anyways, her balances and extensions and artistry were amazing as usual. I'm so thrilled to see her dancing so well in such awful conditions, weather and audience being not the best! WE LOVE YOU ALINA! If I were there I would have cheered!
I agree with @dancerlady73093 ! How romantic, dancing swan lake in the rain, with the sound of the birds, and what a beautiful place! cojocaru is wonderful and kobborg looks like a great partner.
@dancerlady73093 on the contrary!! they're an educated audience. to clap in the middle of something only distracts the dancers. ask any professional dancer, they'll say they prefer all the claps at the end. beautifull pdd by the way
@lmi88 that's fairly absurd...If you're a professional dancer, claps in the middle really don't phase you. If anything, they prefer it at the end so you don't distract the rest of the audience and can therefore remain attentive with what they're performing on stage, not a self consciousness of "am I supposed to clap now or later or when?!" Plus, classical ballet has a different atmosphere to say, a dance competition.
But I completely agree that Cojocaru and Kobborg are exquisite :)
@lmi88 i disagree. i am a prof dancer and the clapping for good parts fuels my dancing. it makes me feel the audience is really into it and i can be more into character. when there is silence i start to wonder why and lose focus and character.
@pixie0364 i guess it depends on the dancer but most professional dancers prefer the silence. they then feel like they've earned the clapping. to go into stage and receive a standing ovation makes you wonder if they're here to see you dance or simply to see you. there was once a russian ballerina that went on to stage and received a huge aplause. she bowed and left the stage. then said that the audience had clapped and so that meant she'd done her job and could leave...xD
there are comments around saying Black Swan is not Alina's best role. But look at her here, so malicious, and all the characterisations! No need for big jumps, just the postures, the tiny gestures, she makes it so interesting to watch, and so her, not just any other ballerina black swan she is dancing.
and do i need to mention her technique? better than ever?
Her balances are amazing. It's so cool how it just starts raining and they still do a wonderful job. It's hard to dance outside. One time I had to dance in 85 F! Where and when was this and do you by any chance have the rest of the PDD?
she's got ugly pointe shoes. But she is very, very beauty dancer.
