@th3airsofttitan it was such a difficuly train to keep going. When going around the corners, some of the cars cam of the track. Keeping the the engings at a constant speed, going up and down the layout... I have two throttle in my hand. It took me forever to get them up to speed.

I checked the numbers for ALL of the engines, and they are all correct numbers. He just typed 3541 instead of 3241.

Yes they are SD40-2 unit, high hood hood too! All my locomotives are properly numberd... you can look them up yourself.

Too much power on the headend. Of course that's a problem with trains even if you have the room you can't physically pull a prototypical train. I mean 2 SD-40's could pull 100 car strings all day and night. You had 9 engines with 30,000 hp pulling 78 cars. Sadly I don't think there's a way around that.

Real crews will power two or sometimes three sets of locomotives, if they choose to not use DPUs. An example of this can be found in the September, 2009 issue of TRAINS Magazine.

Have you considered adding additional weight on the locomotives themselves.. It might help with the tractive effort . Judging by the units' first glance I'd say they are mostly athearns. Athearn are great runners, but could be helped by adding a weight inside. ANYHOW, great video!

Yes, its in HO scale.

MYH is coming out with SD702 locomotibves. And Tower%% was suppose to, but they got bought buy Athearn. I'm hoping Athearn will have ES40DC and SD70M-2 out in the year.

I use real "coal" thats really black ballast. but it sure is kewl watching it struggling up my 1% grade!

Yes its real! And its just not the top half. Most of the cars are full of the gravel.

Each cars is about four pounds. It took all the diesels on the video to move the train around the layout. The circle is flat, but it does have a slope, as the train slowed down going one side.

Displaced Power Unit, ref. to the 3 engines you had in the middle of the train. I know some also calls them Midtrainhelpers, but basicly the same, just a different name.

Just so youo know, al lthe bethgon betwen the 9-40CW units and the SD40-2 units are loaded with real ballast. They weigh approximately 2 lb each. Its takes all the locomotive I have in the consist to make the train move. If you listen carefully, you can here the 9-40CW units slipping as they go by.

Oh, yes, and all the couplers are Kadee. The plastic ones break. I wish I had a way to measure the draw-bar pull on this train.

That is just more impressive with the real load. That is a heavy train; I guess you do not have too many grades at your club's layout.

Yes there are grades, even the 'flat' is a bit of a grade. If i go into the yard, from the top mainline, i can go down into the yard, but I cannot get out of the yard with breaking my train into three sections. It takes em almost ten minutes to get my train on the mainline running.
