@thelleht It's really a different experience. However I'll take the cons of being a woman, a trans woman at that, any day over the pros of being a man. Men are oblivious to male privilege until they've lost it. My world view has def.shifted since coming out, its much more in alignment with that of a genetic woman, though not identical. I stand by my earlier statement, for most men to understand male privilege, they should go out en femme and see if the world doesn't look like a different place.
While my experience of going out in "boy mode" is in the cosplay world more than the "Real World," i've had the same experience—that i get treated much better when i present as male.
@spindw That makes sense. Though I must admit there are perks to either perceived gender presentation. Presenting as male I may be talked to "equally" but I am also usually dismissed sexually, at least by straightish males. Where as in feminine presentation it's the opposite, i am more often assumed by women to by androphilic and treated more respectfully as a human rather than a pervy male o.O ...The world is an interesting place.
@VelvetAndrogyny That's interesting! I had an experience recently when i went out to a Renaissance Festival dressed as a male—though, it's true, i put limited effort into passing. What ended up happening was, among people who were likewise in costumes, women treated me as male, but men continued to address me as female. But i got hit on by both sexes. So...interesting. Yay for gender fun.
Amazing insight. Also you seem like a very cool person
