  • Peter died in 2006.

  • @TRJ90210 Peter Sissons is still alive.

  • @AidanLunn Not Peter Sissons,Peter Brook the announcer.

  • Good to hear "Remember Me" by The Blue Boy in the trailer here - along with the currently revived "Your Woman", one of my favourite songs from that period, otherwise a horrible time in my life.

The thing with that 1993 news look is that it only really made sense in the context of the "Himalayan Option", but ultimately the BBC took a quite different direction, in which that look seemed very out of place very quickly. Especially after 1st May 1997.

  • I think that swimming pool clip in the Noel's Telly Years bit of the trailer may be from an ad for the long-defunct Daily Sketch, which I think is somewhere else on YouTube (along with, almost unbelievably, an ad for an ice cream called Midland Counties).

This would be the last year David Coleman presented A Question of Sport. Peter Brook is announcing after his partial verbal makeover - note the slightly camp Mockney way he says "game". Oh, and fuck Tory Europhobia, then and now.

  • @RobinCarmody And Celador were probably best known at this time for producing The Detectives and numerous other shows featuring Jasper Carrott - WWTBAM being still some 19 months away from transmission.
