Attitude towards us, the former Soviet, are always "special": you saw a clash of Tanya and Oksana Shevchenko How carefully the assistant (or whoever it is there) podnyalaTanyu, brought her to the side, and there she carefully lifted and planted on the bench. Oksana is another matter: it stirred up as the "ugly duckling" and pushed on the ice ... It's good that the duckling turned swan, like a fairy tale by Andersen!
@Blazhevino That was Katarina Witt actually. Unlike Baiul, Shevchenko was her teammate also competing for Germany. So see, there's no monsters;) In fact, it was very nice of Katarina to help both girls off the ice
Katarina is a very beautiful person inside and out. I think with what she did here made me love her even more. I also adore Oksana even better. How she was able to rise above that injury is remarkable.
@getoutofmyway01 Why is this "extra drama"? This was taped before the long program, and Oksana fought through this incident, which very much could have had serious consequences, to win the gold. Don't be so jaded.
@NYCBlonde LOL.. you people are the ones that are JADED. Oksana WON the gold... END of story.. Whether you like her or not. She won.. Not Kerrigan, and I am tired of people still saying Kerrigan should have won. You, my friend, need to move forward. I think you might have confused my comment. I defended Oksana.
I'm sorry I know I shouldn't find it funny but I find it hilarious when they ask Tanja to explain the crash between her and Oksana.. Its like they saw eachother than crashed... Tanja even cracked a little smile while explaining it.. Knowing its accidental of course..but realizing its a bit funnie when explaining the incident out..
I recall Scott speak in a verbose mannor that the 3 Axel had left Tonya years ago and left the impression that she wasn't even working on one here but then during her long he set up the 3 axel for the viewers now that's a contradiction which he is at times if he would have mentioned that she was planning it (WHICH HE KNEW SHE WAS) Tonya would have recieved much more respect!
@SexyLiLLeilaniMya Whatever, Stop reading so much narrative into what Scott (or any other journalist) says. It is certainly a fact that Tonya hadn't landed a 3A in competition in several years (very sad, she's an amazing athlete). But whatever, he's reporting it as he sees it--don't be paranoid.

You may have noticed how carefully lifted and passed through a side Tania Shevchenko and as casually picked up and pushed on the ice Baiul?

That was nice of Katarina. Not that anyone wouldn't have helped in that situation, but it was nice to see.

Then Oksana went on to beat nancy... so, this is crap, extra drama that wasn't needed.
I remember this like it was yesterday. I know things changed, and Oksana has had some rough times since then, but she was exquisite in 1994.

@NYCBlonde and don't call me "jaded." You do not know the first thing about me.

I hate this fluff. They make it seems as if Oksana will never be able to skate again.
