Thank u very much for clearing my confusion on RH(+-) type.....I loved your ABO sprinkles explanation! Not painful at all, even though i don't like sprinkles or donuts.
I do have a question, would be great if you could answer it from me. The RHOGAM used to is IgG type Ab..so when given to the mom to prevent sensitization of Rh+ from fetus, wouldnt the IgG cross the Placenta and causes problems in the child as well?
I am A negative with the RH factor. I live in the USA, had my shot and my second child was born premature and after my third child I had two miscarriages. I got a shot after both, and was able to carry full term with my fourth. Then I had my tubes fixed. I had to stay in the hospital longer with my last children because they had to watch for clotting. Being RH- can still effect us even with all the medical wonders of today. I am so thankful for the thickest most painful shots ever!!
very nice explanation. can you please provide me with some more information about what will happen after the 1st child? i understand that the 1st child will be fine...what kind of problems will be present in the subsequent children? thanks
@twopaddles1 She explained that mothers who haven't been treated (e.g) in third world countries and are experiencing this condition will have miscarriages in subsequent pregnancies. This is because the Rh+ antibodies, which her body created after exposure to the child's Rh+ blood cells in the first pregnancy, will be transferred to the subsequent Rh+ child via the umbilical cord and will cause the foetus' blood cells to be destroyed.
@savvy777333 ,having D antigen is RH + ,not having D antigen is RH - ,and how they found out about this was , Dr Lahnsteiner injected blood from a monkey which was RH+ to a rabbit which was RH- which induced immune response since antigen was present in blood of monkey which was not found in blood of rabbit , we test for it because it can cause blood clot , so can kill a person .
@myvictorianow My parents did! I am the only RH- child they have four children. They are both RH+. If both parents carry it rececieve then it can pass on to the child.
Great Video, Im a 2nd year medical student and i've never been been able to understand this ABO system as well as the Rh factor since secondary school up until now!! So easy to understand! makes you wonder what these idiots who write books about this are trying to say lool
Thank you that was very helpful. Ignore the comment about dumbing it down. they do not have a clue about how to clarify topics that can be confusing. I loved the doughnut analogy!
@ron66hand Not at all. I am trying to help people to understand some very difficult topics by making analogies to things they already know. Also, most people viewing these videos are health care students and they need to have analogies to explain these ideas to patients who have no medical background at all.
I'm O-neg. So what does that mean besides the fact that I"m 7% of the world's population? I have survived HIV for almost 20 years and am an alien abductee that has been used to breed a real looking human, not a hybrid. I need help.
@QuriOsities Are you out of your mind? You have been abducted and you have access to internet and ask for help? Your abductprs must be very cool lmao. If you dont have anything to do go somewhere else to play around; some of us are actually tyring to learn something here.
Great explanation!! i had difficulties understanding the subject but now it is clear as water.. thank you so much for your help. i am using the donuts to remember!
@mineforever0710 Thanx for the answer . My class mate is a pure Norwegian carting O+ and my Pakistani internet friend is caring the same blood type exactly so who its come ?!
I've seen on other videos where it matters whether the transfusion is only red blood cells (where the antigens reside) or whether its a plasma transfusion (white blood cells)(where the antibodies are produced). Could you elaborate on that point, thanks.
This lady is he bomb, its sad that I couldn't understand blood types without it being related to food, but hey I got the concept and passed bio lab this semester!

all great! except you didn't expose the purpose of such a mechanism in nature. Why would the Rh- genepool want to protect itself?
.
also, i didn't know she can have the first baby no problem. thanx , VERY WELL EXPLAINED.

@StephyMichelle171 Great!! THE special one of the family!!
I meant that no two rh ++ ppl meaning that no one carries the rh-trait recessively, cannot produce a rh- baby.
In your case one or both of your parents carried the neg trait recessively and within four preganancies it expressed itself
Thanks for helping me clarify my meaning!
