This song came out in the French Antilles years ago, most of the people on the video are probably in their forties, fifties or even sixties now.
In Guadeloupe and Martinique people are as talented and intelligent as in any other country and some of those "small islanders" are doing very well on their islands, in Paris, France, London, U.K., or else.

The song is about a woman who wants to save her relationship. I was only 7 in Ivory Coast in a small town, Assuefry, near the Ghana border. I will never forget that precious part of my life the best part indeed . Full of memories!!!
I born in Angola and grew up listening thsi kind of music. This reminds me good times. I'm the owner of 2 CD's of Zouk Machine. I' ve already ripped them and encode them in FLAC lossless.
They are available in demonoid(dot)com as torrents as well one from the KASSAV. But although there are many that already download them, mainly from US and Netherland, I'm afraid I'm the only seeder right now.

triniusah1, there is zouk in Trinidad, those of us who still speak Creole [ patois] listen to it! I am part of Trinidad's Creole speaking community! There are still Creole and French speakers in Trinidad
be that as it may be, the average trini doesn't know anything about zouk while growing up in trinidad. my family use to utter a lil sentence here and there but to be honest patois is dead to the masses...
it would be nice if the language could make a come back per say...
we are still there, right now there is work being done to document our creole and a dictionary is on the way! so there is hope that the language can still make a come back.
ca ka fete santoure! An bug la te di mwen, mun pale kweyol in Trinidad! I didn't know that! He was listening to some Sparrow lyrics in kweyol singing it and I know he from Trinidad. He said less than 10% of the island speak the true native language! Bodieu! Your kweyol must be the same as St. Lucia,wi?
wi kwéyòl Latinité pwé kwéyòl Sent Lisi mé malgwé sa i tini diféwans lèksik épi swikti fwaz. Mwen sa konpwann Kwéyòl Matinik épi Gwadloup osi. Nou ka éséyé mété kwéyòl doubout kwéyòl ka vini alamòd ankò!
Oh I see. I know for Kweyol to be different in other islands but we all understand :)
I was born in Brooklyn but mwen san ka kouwi di Sent Lisi. I have been to Martinique only one time in my life when I was 10. Loved it there despite the French. Are you from Madinina or Gwada? If either, tu as de la chance!!
I am Trini through and through but I am part of a segment of the population that is bilingual speaking both Creole and French as native languages along with English. I have strong family ties to Martinique and Guadeloupe though.
the average Trinidad does not know about many cultural traditions in Trinidad and Tobago and that is sad. The Creole speaking community of Trinidad and Tobago is bilingual, we use English with Trinidadian who do not speak Creole. at home and with creole speaking friends we converse in Creole which is our ancestral language and this is why most people do not know much about us yet our culture is clearly seen in the folklore and many other things.
hmmm belle musique, i like.

A quick translation
SAVE LOVE
VERSE 1
Days are passing by, you remain seated looking without saying a word
I know you’re tired, I know you’re working,
But darling, darling, you must understand me

CHORUS 1
(We must save love) we live like two people who don’t know each other
(We must save love) that’s not how we will be able to love each other
((We must save love) you have made me suffer, you can’t even imagine
((We must save love) if I have to bow down I will do it, I will pray
VERSE 2
We started well, we even were dreaming we were “playing” love
We were talking to each other, we were even fixing all our problems together darling

CHORUS 2
Speak darling, speak and tell me whatever you want
That’s the only way I’ve found so that we be able to save (our) love
Speak darling, speak and tell me whatever you want
Speak to me, tell me quietly the thing you’ve told me that made me shiver
Speak darling, speak and tell me whatever you want
Speak to me, don’t just stay there, don’t let it be too late without any hope

ca ka fete santoure! Lucia,wi?
