if you care for poor people then donate to charity. There is a huge difference if I give my money to a poor person willingly, or the money is taken from me at a gunpoint (taxation) for later distribution that I can't control and which usually gets stolen or misused anyway. Simply take a look at any government program and see if they've done a good job so far with your tax money. Look at education, or medicare...

They won't donate out of the goodness of their heart. There are plenty of taxes that I disagree with, like inheritance tax. What alternative do you propose? And btw, I'm no expert about Brazil, but I know that the growth they had for the last couple of years is due to the additional freedoms they incorporated in their markets. Another example is China. The growth they have is because they move away socialism towards free market.

Yes, banks own the government, you pointed that out very well. And because people who run the banks are greedy bastards (that's just the nature of man, you can't change that) they will eventually bribe any kind of government body to get what they want, be it softer regulatory terms or legislation (like SOPA for example).
