  • Michelle Kwan is truly an angel on ice.

  • Michelle doesn't have an Olympic gold medal, but, without a doubt.....the best skater ever.

  • Michelle Kwan is always a class act. She's a figure skating legend. She got the whole package, the poise, grace, elegance. This is just perfection, can't believe that she's only 15 here!! She always skates beautifully coz she dances from her heart.. I love her.

  • This is one of her loveliest, exquisitely delicate, tender, feminine, most detailed and nuanced -- mature -- performanes ever. Ever.

    Ever.

If ONLY there were a better quality video of it!

  • Wow, what an introduction ! I couldn't agree more ! I love Michelle.

  • Gorgeousness!!

  • perfect

  • Perhaps one of the most inspiring performances ever, in the history of the sport. So beautiful. Just an absolute joy to watch, throughout. It wasn't I was sitting there waiting for the next big jump or trick, like I do with today's figure skaters. Truly timeless. THIS is why I fell in love with figure skating. BEAUTIFUL.

  • AWESOME!

  • cerdanM you are so right. 15 years old! To have such a depth of understanding and connection to the music while so young is astonishing. To say nothing of her skills... wow! The high and long held free leg on the landing of the axel for instance. What can you say? She changed the sport. She's a legend.

  • So well said, I love it!

  • The quality of her skating is gorgeous! The edge quality, the control, the artistry. Who else @ 15 could skate like this?

  • mao and yuna, didn't skate this beautifully at age 15.

  • no they certainly didnt...for mao and yuna it's all about the jumping. yuna is getting much better at her artistry but is nowhere near michelle.

  • @cerdanM Mao had her EoE-level performance at Nationals 2003 SP (then was stuck with somewhat cutesy choreo until Nocturne, but the potential was there), and YuNa's Tango de Roxanne at 15 was pretty impressive, IMHO. I love Michelle, but there's no need to put other skaters dwn.

  • i still like michelle's spirals better then sashas....more feeling and control to them..

  • Kwan's first Worlds was 1995, not 1996. She finished fourth in 1995.

  • Actually, she competed in 1994 too. She placed lower then, but helped to keep 2 spots for the American women. Nancy and Tonya did not compete.

  • You're right, my mistake. How could I forget?? She was 8th in 1994.

  • East Of Eden

  • does anyone know what this song is?

  • It's the beautiful theme to the 1981 mini-series East of Eden; starring Jane Seymore, Timothy Bottoms, Bruce Boxleitner, and Sam Bottoms, Karen Allen and Lloyd Bridges. I'm a fan of the mini-series and most especially of the music.

  • skaters certainly do suck today. Many of them flutzes, have horrible edging, and doesn't emote at all. Their like Robots. It should really be called Robotic Skating.

  • I had stopped watching figure skating since Michelle hasn't been on tv. I cant wait for her return!

Even today's jumping and axels, no one skates as finesse as Michelle. She makes her audience focus, feel and cry. The only ones that cry in figure skating today are the skaters themselves, not the audience. These skaters suck!

I so miss Michelle Kwan. Pls come back!

  • Love this music and performance.

  • michelle kwan the greatest skater of all time!!

  • That dress belong to US figure skater Linda Fratianne, I believe its an original Bob Mackie. Linda turned heads even shocked them when she showed up in a designer skating outfit, coz they used to be made by the mothers of skaters only. The dress has history.

  • Oddly enough this was a signature piece that always made me think of David Copperfield until now. He used it to perform is remarkable flying illusion to. A wonderful choice whether you're skating or flying. :)

  • you can say MK also, in a way, 'flies' when she skates, don't you think so? The grace and beauty of the way she glides through the ice and leaps into the air...

  • I would certainly say the overall grace and fluid movements of both pieces are very similar. They both feel almost effortless when in reality if you give it any thought either of these feats are rather difficult to accomplish. It truly takes a master to make something so inherently difficult seem so simple and logical to the audience.

  • this reallyu Michelle's signarture music.

  • Ugly dress...beautiful performance!

  • Gorgeous:)
