  • ver cool residents pig-roast yum

  • wow...i decided to watch after seeing they are playing with primus...very interesting and i can see where les pulls some of his creepiness from...ti evol

  • @ljschrad WTF!! WHEN!?

  • @191601916 one night in CA...check out primus's website...i won't be there in body

  • @ljschrad Thank you! I would off missed it!

  • Dark,weird ,womb like.

  • best video one youtube

  • the magic of the residents is that they can create a truley real soundscape and they capture the feel of their videos completly with the music they produce

  • They need to take their medicine regularly...

  • Is that there dinner they're dancing around?

  • LOL, this video and song is unlike anything I've ever seen/heard.

  • It doesn't get much weirder then the Residents.

  • From hell!!!

    i CUUM!!!

Lástima Que en México no se hagan cosas así...

  • that has got to be the weirdest band ever after seeing afew music clip from the residents all i have wondered is what category they should be class as gothic, black humor, or just stoners music?

  • They're experimental/avant-garde.

  • Pshhh stoner music is never this elaborate. The residents is far from being stoner music.

  • The Residents are Avant-Garde and Experimental.

  • @Jimm9349 By the same token, two and two equal four.

  • @MelasChupa The Residents terrify me when i'm stoned.

  • Simple genius!!!

  • simple yet effective ;)

  • there so wierd jajaj

  • My eight year old loves this song. Maybe the band should go in this direction? They Might Be Giants and Ziggy Marley are doing albums for kids.

  • To be honest, that's not a bad idea, and I bet the Residents would have major fun with it. Wrapping profound truths in ambiguously cheerful lyrics and subtly lampooning the concept of a children's album...yeah, I can see that working. I'd buy it.

  • The suckling pig would not appear on the children's video however.

  • Isn't that what they did for much of their career already? I kid I kid. I wonder if they'll ever tour again. I'd love to see them again.

  • @Darrylizer1 they are touring again!!:D

  • That would be terrible. The Residents are not like other groups. To do that would mean they would be just like everyone else, making music to make money. No, This is very not Rez.

  • ke el poder del 7 los bendiga oh hermanos the residents ke todos ustedes trasciendan en nombre de la luz eterna y magnifica!

    MAGNIFIK MUSIKA

  • idiota

  • The lyrics are really...simple

  • the eyes marching around the pig is trippy, what do the eyes represent? people who observe but can't speak except through their instruments? I know there is more thought put into this stuff than people give credit

  • The Eyes are The Resident's symbol, starting with "Eskimo".

Supposedly, it was supposed to be an inversion of what a normal band picture did (similar to the cover of Meet The Residents). Instead of looking at a familiar face, these creatures are Staring At YOU!

  • Genious! How come I can't find Lizard lady? It's my favorite Residence song.

  • its so silly. I LOVE IT!!!

  • Silly NO!!!

    Dada.., Avante-Garde!!

    Oh HELL Yeah!

  • Avante-Garde is defined as "a pushing of the boundaries of what is accepted as the norm or the status quo, primarily in the cultural realm." So by definition, engineered silliness is a form of Avante-Garde.

  • Thanks For the definition!

    So in Fact(like I Said)

    Avante-Garde &/or Dada!

    Right?

  • this one scares me

  • I just found out about The Residents, and normally I hate experimental stuff but I am liking The Residents. Of course now for saying I like it the guys who don't will put numerous thumbs down on my comment because they have nothing better to do.

  • This is still one of the scariest of the many disturbing Residents videos. I caught it years ago during one of their live shows and it freaked me out. Especially the scene where they're dancing in the black lights. Very spooky. I love it.

  • There's something in the way they clap their hands out of synch that gives me scare shivers

  • I Guess Different scares People???

Now try listening to this or turning this stuff on to your friendz or your parents back in '78 to this!!!?????

Muzik IS SO BORING Theze Daze!!!

  • apparently so is spelling things correctly.

  • No!

Not More In This Spell Check World!!!

  • Why Scary!!!

    Bizzare Yes!!!

    Weird Yeah!

    Nuthin' Scary!

  • when I used to hear people say "we often mock what we don't understand" I figured they were kidding...then I read posts where people say they don't understand or enjoy The Residents, and what do you know! It's TRUE!!

I personally love The Residents and think this is genius. Some of their music makes me uncomfortable and that's a wonderful sensation to me. Much better than being comfortable...am I making sense? Is it wrong to want to think and live an "examined life"?

  • they are the residents they are contemporary artists

  • is contemporany art, you must be very intelectual to understan it

  • so, can you explain me wtf this clip means?

  • that is the beatefull part, is open-to-interpretation

my interpretation is: the evil side of the childrens mind

  • I can explain what this clip means: It means The Residents can get the music that they recorded at great expense sold. Have you ever seen how much they charge to work in a studio?

MTV didn't exist at the time, but it's creation must have been a windfall for The Residents...

The clip is just atmospheric. There aren't really any lyrics to create images from so they just went on feel. I personally think they were successful, but if you don't like it fine.

  • It's supposed to weird out people who won't understand it. That's what the residents are all about.

  • you have a poor sense of humor

  • So what do you define to be music?

  • But it's expressing an idea (a simple one, hence the name) through rhythm, melody, harmony, and I'm not quite sure what you mean by color.

  • This is one of forty one minute Residents songs on one album. You may need to hear a few more of their songs before you can judge.

  • you obviously don't get what there trying to put out then do you lol, you cute little teddybear come here and give me alittle kiss you piece of worthless shit

  • Good for you. Any particular reason you came here to explain to us your definition of music, or are you just as bored as you are closed-minded and stupid?

  • The album this is off of was made to make fun of top 40 radio with 40 one minute tracks of bizarre and strange things you probably would never hear on top 40 radio. So you're partially right - it's not music in the typical sense. It's closer to a dadaism parody.

  • I think it's pretty good music. I like how the simplicity of the lyrics is mimicked by the simplicity of the song. The message is quite clear, and the feeling of listlessness it creates is intense. What kind of music do you like, Mkogl?

  • Not a big Residents Fan? I'm not either, but I can't hate those organ break!

Or the looping bass line for that matter.

That distorted drum hit after ever other riff is a nice touch, especially in a song almost devoid of precussion (just that hit and the snaps).

I'll admit it, I'm a Residents fan! I don't love everything they've done but I do like a lot of their music (especially the early and new stuff).

  • The drums are virtually metronomic and probably sequenced.

Incidentally there is no audible disorder in this song. You're thinking of a different Residents song, maybe off of Meet The Residents.

  • The Drums PROBABLY Aren't sequenced & came from Toys 'r' Us for 3.99!!!!

  • Oh, I just heard a low volume synthesized "wind" effect twice in the first seven seconds (starting on the fifth and sixth seconds exactly). Other than that, the distorted drum, and the snapping, there is no percussion in this song.

  • good god(fucking)damn i love the residents :)

  • their fucking ritual dance is awesome,

  • I think I need to go smoke some more dope. This little film clip doesn't make enough sense yet. lol

  • great song

  • These guys are so abstract and surreal. I enjoy watching their video clips/short films. They have a unique way of bringing you to that place in your mind where you go after you've fallen asleep at night and are well into a state of R.E.M. dreaming. It's awesome.

  • ^^:)

  • i love the residents
