@gia257 I thank you for your suggestions. I am sorry I could not respond as fast as I could have. School is wreaking havoc on me right now but as long as you are willing to understand, send as much info as you like to get out to me! :)
Hey, I am doing a video game for the playstation platform in two to three years from now and I would like to know what you would like to see in a RPG (aside from updating final fantasy vii, ecetera). If you take the time to read this, and decide to respond....please have my email and keep me updated....I would like to make something awe-inspiring! :)
The email is: water.l@live.com!
Thank you!
Any ideas used for it and I will give you proper credit for it in the game when complete!
@Infraredeyeful thats hard I dont like RPGs a lot, much less J-RPGs, one thing that gets to me is how long most are, or look like, kids might have all the time on the world but adults usually don't, Bioware-style RPGs are cool at the beginning but I never complete them because it seems I am not even at 1% of the story. So maybe including a progress indicator would be cool (in pokemon you got the badge case, castlevania a %, etc).
@Infraredeyeful I personallly would prefer a game that concentrates on the action and drops the lore and story while you play, not in cutscenes -they are boooring specially when you can't cancel them- but while you are fighting the monsters or whatever you fight against. That would mean the battle would have to be long enough to display the whole conversation, which means you'd be fighting a lot more enemies than the usual 2 or 3 at a time, or they'd have a lot of hp.
@Infraredeyeful I like Castlevania and Diablo style games more because of that, they are more action than traditional RPG. About collectables, having thousand of things to collect can make a gotta catch 'em all person have fun, but like I said you have less time as you get older so this shouldn't be the focus I think. Also the things to collect should have different properties and looks/effects. SOTN did it well by making every sword different.
@Infraredeyeful In that sense, Valve games like are more fun "RPG" than others :) Without being an RPG and having level ups and stuff usual RPGs have, you get into your role when you play let's say L4D.
I've had Pokemon Blue do that to me. I was leaving Saffron and my menu pops up, I close it and an Onix appears. Not even in a cave, much less a wild pokemon spot...
