Mikey im loving your channel and was wondering if MDF would be a good for the boards. I know its a bit heavy and thicker but do have a few boards of it in my garage and thinking of using it on my Cases..... Please help i dont want to waste time and money if not good. Will it be good with the riverts sorry im asking too much hope you understand though
Great vid MM!!!! You make it look so easy!!! Lol I'm watching from an iPad it doesn't show the parts list I know this is a stupid question but for the cost of the materials is it as close in price to the same as just buying a pre made?
Hey MM..you are great...i will say this..i bought an anvil case a while back...and for the price i paid for it and your vids..i have now made 4 cases..your vids are great!!!!
Great videos man thats crazy how you just made that I really need a case for my cd players n mixer I just might make 1 not too sure im not the best craftsman lol but thanx for da videos
Excellent videos. I watched all 8 and I'm ready to head into the shop. I'm an experienced case builder (for myself only) and I still learned a lot. Thanks so much for sharing. It's appreciated.
Your Welcome Mike, I just ordered the parts with Penn Elcom to build my own case for my Lights, But I will need to buy the wood and the laminate in Rona or Home Depot, Bcos The shipping here in Canda is pricey.
Thanks once again for your videos and tips. Peace!!!
Hi MM I just subscribed to your channel Bcos your videos are Amazing man, you are so damm Good in what you do man, you are the only DJ in this world who share all your experience and teach others how to be better, and save some bucks doing it from scratch.... You are good man my respect for you.
Ps: Sorry for my English it's not my fist language, But I do understand your videos 100%.... Keep doing good man.
not to put my spoon in someone-else's plate....but the american dj vizi spot travel in a case that i put togheter too. actually the box was already made...i just did the modification. check my channel and you will see how its done....(my own thing)
i think than answered my question from a few vids back, the case IS able to have people sit on it. i just asked as i have a rack case where it feels a bit on the flimsy side if you know what i mean. great job on the build and the case looks great!
Hey Mike! First of all - Thanks for the DJ Case Videos... sparked a project for me and have all my parts ordered. Just had a quick question - what is part number of the formica or laminate you used? Did you get it from Penn-Elcom?
@gdsewell2004 I just bought it on the wood from them with it covering on it DO NOT BUY IT seperate you can not glue it on to the wood they use a special prossess go to home deopt or lowes and buy formica brand and use contact cement
Hey Mike, Question - When drilling holes through the formica and plywood for case mount xlrs, is there a trick to NOT rip the formica. I was thinking maybe duct tape on the box and drill through that. Thanks, Rich
@directsound Well, I have to go up to 7/8 for my XLR, and 1" 3/4 for my flanged inlet and outlets. Do you think it is better to drill from the outside in or inside out? Thanks Rich
hey mike,,,,,the plywood u used is a 3/8 thick,, and the farmica?? if u add them together is bigger size?? so u have to buy a hybrid valance big enogh for the plywood and the farmica to fit??
@ericksaul yes your right most ply is sold at i think it 11/32 or something like that as a 3/8's size then when you add the laminit it makes it 3/8's just make sure your wood and cocering is not thicker than your hybrd
hey mike great videos! i have a few questions for you though! how did you get the latches on there? did you have to cut the hybrid valance and box? and did you encounter any sharp ended rivets where you had to grind them down for safety? if so what do you think is the best tool for that.
Awesome videos Mike, thanks for all the info and for the time you spend teaching us and editing this 8 great videos, hope to see you build in the inside of a console case or and instrument case keep on doing this videos man you´re the best.
Thanks MM . . . got with Penn-Elcom and got the price list & gave your name a mention . . . your parts list sure helped out when it came to all the choices on the extrusion and ball corners . as far as to answer the Q for the guy on the power , Neutrik makes what they call a powercon that works and locks in the same as speakon , awesome if you worry about power getting unplugged I get mine from Parts Express . . . . thanks MM for the help
Hey Mike; Just watched all 8 videos and I must say you are the man. Love your video's. Do you have any about putting in mods for power and XLR connectors in the case?
Hi Mike, i want to ask all the list of Tools and Parts. This video very good and i hope so you will make more videos about how to make inside of mixer cases and you now some Pro tricks. I want to start make cases really sirius so if you can help me i will be very happy. Dj Tony Venilman (Netherlands)
I am not sure what tools I used but you can see them in the video I tryed to use the bare minimum toos but the better your tool set the better youe cases
I must say you are awsome!!! Thanks for doing these vids!!! I went to the penn elcom site and found all the hardware for the case you made. I'm looking into building a case with some Power inlets and outlets, and some Neutrik connectors and other stuff to clean up my setup. I can't find any of the power outlets on the site, do you know part numbers or do you have a link to where I could find these parts? Do any of your cases have power in/outlets? Have any vids on power outlets? THANKS!!!
thats very nice! sad but true that i can't order from that side your ordered the things from...but there is a side in my country where i can get what i need to my case...
Loved all the parts to the series. The videos were very well put together, and I am glad that the cases came out well for you! Hope things are going good!
hey dig your cases. i'm thinking about building one for a lighting package i have but can i order the parts from pennelcom online? i tried looking on the site and couldn't find how to purchase parts?
Just give them a call If you are in Ca. give Shawn a call and tell them DJ Mikey Mike from direct sound sent you fron youtube they will geve you the best price!!!! Thanks MM
It depends, anywhere from $5- $500 mostly you can get a case, for and how you need it. Pluse some people dont have access to dj cases or it is for a coustom install I hope the video helped a little you might not save a lot on you standerd 5 rack space but when it comes to the odd sizes like if you need a case for 3 moving heads and not 2 this is what i mean Thanks DJ Mikey Mike
