  • And i am back, hearing this again! Gosh, still feels so wonderful listening to this! And stil no dislikes! oh wow, i love John Arpin and his music so much!

  • ah, i'm just so blessed everytime i listen to this!

  • the Nth time i watched this video! ahhaa.. tsk, never fails to soothe me and gives me a wonderful mood. well, that's the power of ragtime! ahha..

  • The first Jazz Piano player that has sentiment when playing , the experience is showing up!

  • Personally I think he is one of the best piano-players in the world! Absolutely amazing! I was saddened to hear of his death a few years ago.

  • Greetings from Australia--this man was such a beautiful player. I love the refinement and colour he brings to ragtime. He manages to capture all the humour, the warmth, the dignity in the writing of these masters and doesn't lose the rhythmic vitality in the process. I'm hoping to do a programme for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation of many of these compositions, as they are not as well known here, the exception being Joplin of course. It is such wonderful music.

  • excellent pianist

  • Interesting version. Yet the printed score of Bohemia should be respected ... that is what Lamb expected. I have played it for over than 25 years.

  • Great ragtime comes from the heart - not from a printed score, and this is great ragtime. Ragtime is all about interpretation - something you should KNOW if you've been playing for 25 years, and if this isn't the way Lamb scored the piece, perhaps it should have been! A marvelous, moving performance by an incredible pianist - something you, superdot36, I'm sure, would like to be, but never will, hence your snide, totally unwarranted comment.

  • @superdot36

With all due respect... Mr Lamb, is Mr Lamb... you are yourself... and Mr Arpin is Mr Arpin... Everything is a matter of choice... And your choice, although as valuable as Mr Arpin's one, "should" not be imposed to anyone. I think that's what people call freedom...

PS : By the way... I'm absolutely fond of this version of Bohemia. And I heard a lot of them.

  • Thanks very much for getting this up a nd running again. You have no idea how many people want to see and hear John play Bohemia Rag.

  • How come this video is no longer available ? Any chance of getting it up and running again as I really enjoyed his performance over Sue Keller`s who in my opinion played it too fast

  • Well wonder of wonders. What do I find this morning, but John Arpin up and playing my favourite Ragtime again. THanks to those concerned for fixing the problem adn getting it going again .Greatly appreciated!!!!!!

  • Tell me how you found it please! Have tried to hear this version after your recommendation but keep getting the "No longer available"! What do you know that I don't?!

  • Mike , I dont knwo whats going on, but John Arpins video has been on and off a number of times. The only version now is that of Sue Keller playing Bohemai Rag, and I honestly think that its being played way to fast. Do a search of Sue Keller - Bohemia Rag and have a listen to her version. Pity that John Arpin`s version is unavailable as he has such incredible feeling and sensitivity for this piece of music, and it is so majestically played. Have a listen to John playing some of the other rags.

  • Why the hell is this video no longer available ?? Can someone enlighten us please

  • Steinwaygrand, it is available. I uploadd it but now I don't have access to any YouTube videos but there must be a problem with my player in my computer. I can't download the newest version. I don't know if there was a change at YouTube but I have the same problem with other sites, too, so it's MY problem. I never took the Arpin-video away, it must be visible on YouTube. Tamas

  • Hi fobohem. I have just tried to watch John Arpin and I still get a message saying : " We are sorry, this video is no longer available " very strange. I dont have the knowledge on how to rectify this problem

  • John Arpin is visible, but the link wont open and thats driving me nuts as I want to download his version of Bohemia onto my computer and then burn it onto my collection on CDs to play in the car.

  • I don't recall having heard Bohemia Rag before and I am surely lapping up the composition and performance. Wonderful!

  • Joshua Rifkin offers an excellent performance of Bohemia on his "Rags & Tangos" CD... That's the first place I heard it.

  • Nice, personal enhancements to a wonderful ragtime piece!

  • That is simply awe-inspiring-- both the perfect expressive playing and the magnificent arrangement. I wish I could play 10% that well!

  • John Arpin. Wow. I grew up with his recordings, and as a pianist, it was years before I realized how lucky I was. This man truly inspired me to become a concert artist.

  • One of my favorite performers ever. Incredible musicianship. No one did it better. Thanks for posting this.

  • That's so gorgeous. And one of my favorite rags, too.

  • Perfection. The International Piano Master!

    He was loved and admired.

    Thanks for posting this treasure.

    Tom Warner

  • Ah, the suttle dynamic changes, light touches, the way it just flows! It's just masterful!!
