  • I remember listening to this one summer's evening towards the end of May 2010. It had been a long, traumatic day and it was going to be worse the next day. As I sat there in the lull of battle in the garden of a tucked-away house in Wiltshire, this came on the radio and allowed me to compose myself and be at one with the beautiful summer's evening, and be at peace with the world.

  • @TOTALAIRPLANEFREAK96 thanks for sharing a genuine moment...peace

  • @CREGGANMAN1 well said you are so right.

  • Some songs can encapsulate a life and mentally transport you to the magical places you inhabited when you were young and immortal.Everybody has one;this one is mine (and many other people's too).Absolute magic.

  • new wave

  • Does anyone have the instrumental version of this? If so, can they upload it?? There is an instrumental on YT but it jumps!. .. weird

  • yes this song brings back memories.. I love it! thanks for posting!

  • WOW...........WORDS CAN NOT..........

  • When I was 12 or 13 this song together with OMD's Secret and the Duran2x splinter group Arcadia was often played in the Marcos-Tolentino Headquarters during the 1986 Philippine presidential elections. My juvenile mind fantasized over the pretty youth leader of the headquarters, a girl who was 8 years my senior. In a sort of serendipity, i later discovered that my ex-wife who is 8 years my senior was this girl's classmate in high school. :)

    NEW WAVE Forever

  • BRILL

  • Beautiful beautiful beautiful. Takes me back to being in the back seat of my parents car with the wind in my face on a summers day..Not a care in the world...

  • This song represents the best moments of my life: summer 1984, strolling in the streets of Paris, picking up girls, feeling the heat of love, freedom and youth rolling through my veins, farewell louise marie mollen

  • @TheJeanjacques69

...and raping them, bludgeoning them to death and then eating their warm remains. Ooops, just my little joke. Don't send me back....

  • ::sigh:: They don't make 'em like that anymore! Or if they do, I'm not hearing them.

  • This brings me back. Amazing tune.

  • This song reminds me of Coldplay - Strawberry Swing. Great song.

  • @Tazzzomg This was 1985, when did Coldplay released the song Strawberry Swing? Was it around 2006 or what year? If that is the case then The Lotus Eaters were the first ones to release the song.

  • @Supersweetguy That doesn't matter, it still reminds ME of the Coldplay song.

  • @Tazzzomg I respect your point of view, but what i was pointing out that The Lotus Eaters had such a distinctive sound....

  • @Tazzzomg Are you tell me Coldplay ripped this song?

  • great tune.my favourite of all time

  • see the boys live 10/06/10 at The Cavern, Liverpool

  • Summer of 83. O levels over. Holiday romance. Perfect bliss.......

  • This is what 80's music was about

    STRONG MELODIES and HARMONIES!

Musicianship was required, but the technology we take for granted today was starting to appear back then, so you had the best of both worlds.

Now unfortunately, real creativity is the exception, not the norm. Sad.

  • @xoio

Well put. The 80's were about the synthesisers and emergent Pop Video. Equivalent to a treasured Sony Walkman

  • @xoio AWESOME TRACK PURE MUSIC 1ST CLASS

  • class song

  • what a great song from a great band in 80's....fantastic....cheers mate:-)

  • The great days of 1983

  • @peak45 yes it certainly a special year

  • I loved this song when it came out, but could never admit it cos all my mates were punks. I liked the Exploited too, but quality like this definitely needs airing too.

  • I love this song! Managed to find a copy of it on Ebay, will cherish it forever. Bought some of their newer stuff, just superb!! Long live the 80s

  • i love new wave,the music 4 bored generation.

  • This song was the first one that I heard after my son was born - the lyrics are really appropriate, even though he was born in February. My daughter's first song is "You'll never stop me from loving you".

  • There was a recent poll done here in the UK to find the favourite decade for music and it was no big surprise that the 1980's came out tops.

  • Lei si spogliò

    e cadde nel letto...

Come un fiore, un ricordo, una foto

e un violento tremito di passione.

    di Maurizio Spagna

  • Wow,still sounds as fresh today !!! I will have this song played at my funeral !!!

Oh to go back in time for a month !?!
