The other songs- "Home is Where the Heart Is" was written by First Nations kids in Sioux Lookout who were in a school that sits on the grounds of a residential school. Far from their homes. "Home" is still a big question for me, because my grandfather ran away from residential school when he was 13. The native theme is deep.
I know that my mi'kmaq heritage is something I've been really working to uncover these past few years and I'm unbelievably happy that it's become easier for me to find and connect with that part of my history :) it means the world to me
