  • This was my graduation class and I am always proud that I was part of the ONLY Commencement Speech Woody Hayes ever gave at Ohio State.

  • That damn near brought a tear to my eye!

  • I was there that day Woody dotted the I. The crowd started at a low roar that built every step he took. One of my greatest memories of the Shoe...

  • They don't make um like Woody anymore. Bless the memory of WW Hayes.

  • i am a michigan fan and woody hayes was one of the greatest coaches in college football history. R.I.P. woody hayes

  • He was sort of arrogant but he was a great coach. He was a really good teacher. Its called sportsmanship

  • That flat out is disrespectful! ...and you're the one calling yourself a Mich. fan??? The rivalry between OSU and Mich is THE greatest rivalry in college football, and it's fans are supposed to be sportsman like. I've never personally attacked one of your coaches and I'd appreciate it in return. Go BUCKS!

  • Know the facts - he got caught up in the moment, fueled by his age and his poor attentiveness to diabetes. He had to step down, and did so accordingly. That same psycho was an enormous humanitarian to both the University and community. Go cheer somewhere else, or constructively spend your time learning to spell, idiot.

  • @GoBlue208 As a Buckeye fan I would agree, Woody was one of the best! Bo was no slouch either. The day after Bo's passing, and durring the OSU - Michigan game, Bo's image was put up on the Jumbotron. There was a moment of silence followed by 100,000+ Buckeye fans standing to honor Bo's contributions to both OUS and U of M. The applause shook the shoe.

  • I am a Michigan fan, but I have nothing but respect for Woody. He was a great teacher.

  • The Lion in Winter -- An aging, frail Woody Hayes summoning up one last burst of regal passion in delivering the commencement address at Ohio State in 1986. To me, this was as moving a ceremonial moment as any person from the world of sports ever inspired, on a par with when Muhammad Ali lit the torch to open the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996.
