  • do all british trains use american helicopter engines to create steam?

  • totally ruined by the bloody noises-off...!

  • Seems they fitted a Cessna engine to that.....

  • Wonder why people need to yell in their video descriptions....

  • ... i i i can't hear the steam train for the helicopter overhead and i c c c can't see the steam train for the s s s smoke ... and i f f f fail to appreciate that the steam train is powered by steam at all b b b because there is a diesel-weasel and not a stoat at the back end of the t t t train ... .

  • Sounds just like a helicopter!

  • Slow...

  • they can't have much confidence in the worlds newest steam engine if she needs to tow a loco everywhere

  • helicopter followed it all the way?

  • helicoptero do CARALHO,!!!] estragou o som oroginal do trem

  • Prince Charles' Carbon Footprint.

  • @DigbyCaballero Who cares

  • I can smell that glorious odour of hot steam and oil from here!

  • That high intensity headlamp looks really out of place. It also needs a lamp on the smokebox door for correct Royal Train display.

  • Was this taken from the site of the old station platforms at Burton Salmon? In 1957 when I was a 13-year old kid, a Scarborough-bound excursion slowed to a crawl to lety me off here when I had got on the wrong train! AND the next one through, the York train, slowed to let me on!! Wouldn't happen these days. Thanks for the video.

  • Queen leaning out the window wing blowing in her hair " Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee" :D

  • ... could have done without that damned noisy helicopter!

  • @tom201090 thats why we make the best ;-)

  • why was it going so slowly

  • Tornado is the best. Prince who?

  • Bloody Helicopter. If I was filming this and that happened i'd be annoyed as hell!! Spoils the vid a bit if i'm honest sorry :(

  • OMG What pollution!!!

  • @mistatomsom What beauty is really what you should have said.

And, that's nothing compared to when Steamers really were themselves and didn't have a bloody diesel pushing for "back up". Rubbish, the steamer wouldn't have broken down with the preservation society of England working on it and because this train had Royalty on board, the use of a diesel killed the meaning of this excursion.

  • Craig, Good video. Pity about the chopper noise. What was the chopper doing - any idea? Regards Paul

  • Oddly fitting to see her on the Royal.

  • Thankyou for showing us an engine built recently.

Pity it was not at full pace however job well done.

  • Good Video, pity about the Helicopter noise, security or media helicopter I guess, but you can't do with either.

  • British steam locos are the most beautiful in the world. There can be no doubt of that

  • god, even on the royal train, diesels cant help but lurk on back can they? >=/

  • Locomotive by Appointment - praise indeed

  • Also looks like flying sottsman 4772 LNER

  • Turn the camera, 33.

    Let's SEE it.

Get to where it would be under load: slight grade, accelerating, etc., so that we can hear it working!

    Glad you used a tripod.

  • Thank you "UKKarsten", Well done Germany - Water now owned by the French - Gas now owned by the Russians - Electricity now owned by US of A - Houses now built by poles and now Trains built by the Germans. Ah well - What next, Britain run from Tehran. PS There is also a diesel engine hidden in the tender.

  • @andyZjohnZ I understand your feelings. More and more is being sold to foreign firms, all in the holy name of capitalism and shareholder's profits. Most certainly helped by people preferring to buy foreign stuff.

  • DAMNATION ! there's a diesel pushing atr the end ! Uncouth !

  • The diesel is not pushing its being dragged for train heating

  • @ianbillericay no its not its being used as a back up cos prince charles was on the train its the steam loco brakes down the diesel can always push to keep the train moveing

  • americans make the biggest but brits make the best

  • But lots of the parts of this locomotion were made in Germany, specially the Boiler, as Meiningen is the last place in Europe where you can repair or even build new Steam-locomotions... Everyone else decided to forget this interesting technology.

  • UKKarsten...

YES thanks to the Conservatives and Maggie Thatcher

  • @dreamscape95 yeah your right about that, Thomas the tank engines is Britisch as well and not American!

  • Speaking of Thomas the Tank Engine, wouldn't it be neat if Tornado would make a few special guest appearances?

  • @dreamscape95 Have to disagree there. No steam engine out there impresses me more than Union Pacific's Northern and Challenger class locomotives.

  • @dreamscape95 we started the railways!

  • @dreamscape95 "The best" is always a subjective call but I will admit that the Brits do bring it off with a lot of panache and elan. Fast locomotives impeccably maintained by a nation that taught the world how to build fine railways. The peep peep whistles take a bit of getting used to for me, though: the one area where I get insufferably ethnocentric, I freely admit.

  • who invitited the helicopter lol, other than that, great video tho, hoping to see her on saturday rolling through wales

  • sounds like god dang plane

  • you know royalty was on there. LIKE THE QUEEN!!!

  • I'm sure I could hear a Class 20, there's definitely a Chopper on the soundtrack!

  • Not bad. 4*s. Would have been 5*s but for the helicopter.

"shame you didnt shoot that damm helicopter down !" I wouldn't go quite that far, but I do understand the sentiment.

  • probably filming the a1.

  • Aye an't proper place too unless it's doin' summat useful like holdin t'tripod. Donkey stoning, dolly-ponching and mangling can be done any day.

  • PAN LEFT!!! ;)

  • Thanks for your kind advice, so kindly offered. I take still photos and just leave my video running on a tripod. If I ever grow a third arm I will pan just for you, until then what you see is what you get.

  • You're welcome. A more practical and more cost-effective solution might be to have a stunning blonde assistant who does one or the other job for you. Shame about the wasted opportunity though, it was otherwise one of the best video shots on here of the engine's recent run.

  • Dad and me are dour Yorkshiremen so we left our wimminfolk doing a few jobs. The blonde was digging manure into the allotment, the redhead was training our whippets, and the brunette was donkey-stoning the front doorstep. We put on our flat hats, filled our pipes and leant on a fence watching this steam train whilst dreaming of a nice pint o mild. Gradely. Might have a ride to Barnstonworth tomorrow!

  • Damn..America doesn't use Steam anymore...that must be a great site to still see them running over there

  • shame you didnt shoot that damm helicopter down !

  • There is more pollution in some diesel trains than on tornado! And no the U.K aint going backwards... This is the only steam loco to run on the mainline the rest are all 'economical' and very boring... seeing a steam train is special they havnt run on the mainline for 40 years last year. The only way you can see them is on preserved railways where you have to spend stupid amounts of money...

  • drugs 177

There were only 2 years in UK with no main line steam- 1969 & 1970.

Since 1971 there have been special steam trains every so often.....

  • You say: "Steam locomotives were considerable contributors to polluting the environment" that's just not correct, the numbers don't add up at all! Anyway, in the case of Tornado it's all off-set. Also, Britain IS upgrading the rail network, faster trains etc. Did you think we were converting to all steam? Finally, I can't help noticing that your favourites are full of motor vehicles, now there's real polluttion - a train carries a lot of people.

  • Well, here's a radical idea: seeing that we have, I saw that someone estimated the other day, 300 years worth of coal left, maybe it might be an idea to develop modern steam locos, for non-electrified routes, rather than relying on imported oil, who can say. Then maybe we could build our own locos once again.

  • while ever you have a one eyed scottish twat in power that wont happen because he is now trying to kid us all that the future is in electric cars although of course no one has ever built a decent one yet thats any good.and where does the electric come to charge them up.someone should build a newly designed one and see how it goes

  • The electricity to power moden trains probably comes from a coal power station!!

  • Stunning with a capital "Stun"! 5*

  • brilliant video mate

  • Nice shot, great location, thanks for sharing.

  • well done it was good video 100% i was at leeds it was bad lol

  • A very crowning glory moment for 60163's already colourful career. Thanks for sharing, 5*

  • Palpable shot,well captured,more like this please

  • good video do u know at what time the naming is going to take place ?

  • i think this was the train after the naming

  • It was
