@meetthebocker Hey, i'm not saying you're wrong. Different catclubs have different rules. The actual havana brown is very rare breed so you see more chocolate, green-eyed oriental shorthairs these days (you can tell them by even slimmer body and more extreme head type). When you used 2 names at once i thought maybe some catclubs allow interbreeding. if it's not your cat, you might ask the owner
@meetthebocker I'm not sure i used the right word since english is not my native language. By "catclub" i ment cat registry. All pedigree cats belong to some kind of cat registry regardless of whether they can be exhibited or not. The thing i wanted to know was what organistation is jasper registered in and under what breed.
@meetthebocker kittens that are not intended for breeding or showning are registered as well by the very fact of having a Pedigree ( a type of certificate). You should always receive a Padigree from a breeder no mater what.
If a cat doesn't have a Pedigree it is not pedigreed/purebred. I suspect the owners of this cat did receive some papers from the breeder. on that paper there is the name of the breed and the cat registry.
@MrJudube Why does it matter if he's pedigreed or not? I personally chose him when he was a few months old directly from the breeder, and I don't remember getting any papers. We got him because he's a lovely, friendly cat with loads of personality, not because he's purebred. Not really seeing what your point is here.
@meetthebocker the lack of Pedigree doesn't mean a cat is any less cute. The point is that breeders who sell kittens without papers are either breaking their organisation's rules or more likely don't belong to any. The latter case is worse because such ppl don't obligate themselves to respect any standards and usually mistreat their animals.
(cont) Major organisations restrict for example the number of pregnancies female cat can undergo and impose many other responsibilities like genetic testing, veterinary care and so on. Finally a cat that doesn't have a pedigree is a mixed breed cat, no matter how similar it is to the actual breed.
Oh wow, what a gorgeous kitty! Thank you for sharing!

beautiful cat but why do you call it "oriental havana brown"? AFAIK they are 2 separate breeds.
MrJudube 1 year ago
@MrJudube Because he's an oriental type cat, and he's a Havana Brown :)

@MrJudube We're not a member of a cat club, he's not showing quality because he has a few white hairs on his chest, bless him!

@MrJudube He's not registered, he is just a pet, not used for showing or breeding.
