  • They had a killer band, and belushi was such a talent that they are one of the most phenomenal phenoms in pop music, and blues for that matter, history. Started off as a skit.

  • just fits the word 'slick' perfectly xD

  • Good ol' music!!! Fuck yeah

  • 13 people are Illinois Nazis!

  • 'THE BAND"

  • I love the guitar in this song :D

  • Damn Nazi's disliking the blues....

  • @Keijz74 You of course are refering to Matt 'Guitar' Murphy and Steve 'Colonel' Cropper on guitar and Joliet Jake and Elwood Blues poundin those vocals.

  • A teenager in the 70's, briefcase full of blues my introduction to a life long passion with harmonica and the blues. I had a big chrometta 12, played and cried for weeks until I got the b movie licks right. Blues brothers still move me as much as muddy and my other favs. If the doom and gloomers are right about 2012, all I gotta say is... life well spent!!!!

  • For actors, these guys could really sing!

  • @TheKnightRyder... The Blues Brothers was first, then came the movie about them (Blues Brothers movie) and Dan Akroyd was a star :P

  • I have to say John and Dan are the TRUTH! I was digging them back in the 3rd grade......hot song

  • Ya gotta give paul schaeffer some credit man, he can can always bring together the most eclectic people and make history damn great performances. God bless john belushi.

these guys got me hooked on the blues man, lovem!

  • eclectic, and Booker T & the MGs band. :P

  • we are right now driving home in my 1978 lincoln town and listen to this song!

we´ve got afull tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, its dark out there and we are wearing sunglasses.

    hit it.

  • For Jake and Elwood not being professional musicians, this album "Briefcase full of blues" to me was one of the best live albums of the 70's. Others were Live at Leeds, Cheap Thrills ,Full House and Band of Gypsies.

  • Amazing what came from Akroyd's Harley parking spot (He bought an abandoned bar just so he could park close to NBC Studios, which turned into the after-show party place... he started keeping instruments around for impromptu Jam sessions. Belushi was tired of the 70s Music Scene and Akroyd introduced him to R&B/Soul music and thus the Blues Brothers were born)

  • Didn't know that. Where did you get the info?

  • It was a book on the history of the music of SNL that I used to have back in the early 80s. I think there's also some of the info in a Wiki, although I'm usually skeptical about it's validity. Since I remember it from the book (I seem to have forgotten the name) it sort of verifies it.

I'll dig through my library to see if I still have it. It's a really good read about how the "underground" music scene of the 70s-80s considered SNL a major accomplishment. Too bad it's not that way today :(

  • Delbert McClinton!!!!

  • Awesome ! Fabulous ! Wonderful !

  • I watched them do this song last night when i put in the tape of the best of John Belushi SNL. This is by far the best song they have ever done as the Blue Brothers, in my opinion anyway.

  • Agree 100%

  • wolfman-

If you wouldn't mind 'seeding' somewhere - I'd sure appreciate it.... please??

  • FABULOUS!!!!! I love this album!

  • love it

  • Either i am :D it started really young for me though :D playing lego while listening to blues :D

  • im 15 and still love em :D

  • same :D

  • yeah!

  • cool as life can be

  • great song! i dont really like blues but this is pretty good!

  • Man, that Dan Akroyd could blow a mean harmonica. Kinda makes you wonder if Belushi was still alive, how far could this act really have gone?

  • what is wrong with you? great song

  • I'm thinking mostly on a lot of tours maybe.......Blues Brothers are still popluar today

  • @OneCrazyWolfman I wonder if Akroyd would have still got involved his ridiculous UFO rumours project... I wish not.

  • @OneCrazyWolfman Not much further. They were running out of steam by the end of the last tour. They were only popular mostly as a novelty, and because people wanted to see john and dan with good musicians. But they really were losing popularity by the last tour.

Check out the best of the blues brothers SNL video for clarification if you dont believe me.

I think one of the main reasons they are so popular today is because we CANT see them anymore. If he was still alive they would have faded away

  • @OneCrazyWolfman maybe blues would still be mainsteam and anyone like justin beiber would get burned to deaf!!!!!

  • You do know that this version is from SNL because I have seen the episode where they play 'Soul Man' 'B' Movie' and 'Almost'

  • yea but i have sadly only the audio

  • Why don't you have the version from Briefcase Full of Blues

  • i have it but i like the live version better

  • The Briefcase album was live (?)

  • no, thats just the live version, theres also a studio verion

  • Yes, they opened for STeve Martin at the Universal Amphitheater

  • @BluesBrothersMusic

i thought briefcase full of blues was live

  • @BluesBrothersMusic Briefcase WAS live, right? Or did you mean to put you like the SATURDAY NIGHT live version better?

  • @Elwood534 , I wish that I could find a karaoke version of this song, any ideas?

  • @ellroyblues72 Do you have found any midi file or mp3 karaoke version? is incredible don't exist in internet!! THANK!!

  • @Elwood534 soul man and b movie was from them opening for the grateful dead..and irony..the closing of Winterland!(77 or 78 i think) can i get a hell ya!!??
