@FlashmanJW Great question! If you lean your upper body forward as you knee and somebody say your partner/opponent punches your head or simply pushes toward you chest area, it will "stuff" you and stop your forward knee progression BEFORE you could complete the thrust of the hip. if you lean back (shoulder) especially on the striking knee side, you will redirect that linear attack and still be able to penetrate toward the abdomen area. If you need a video demo, let me know. Try it!
@KruTraining I understand it a little bit, but I prefer visually learning techniques while getting talked through it. So if you would please send me a video demonstration, it would be helpful.

@kaine118 I agree with 9996kyle. You are lookng at this one dimentionally. First of all it is a beginner drill. Moving the arm TEACHES how to counterbalance first then is used when an actual attack is coming and redirecting it as opposed to just "taking the hit" (Who likes that happening?). This is first Basics people. Work with enough people and you will see how many people need tolearn then when you walk, you will swing your arms or it will affect rest of gross motor movement when you sprint!
Excuse me, did you say lean back for thrusting? I learned that you thrust your pelvis; leaning back just gives away balance. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Just a tip, when using a Knee you should not drop your guard, she seems to be throwing her arm backwards this leaves her open (I would move my body away & throw a hook on her vunerable side) you can direct you body weight the same way without dropping the guard
@kaine118 that " vulnerable side" is not necessary vluneable... the opposite hand stays up and can defend both sides, the other arm comes down for balance...
HILARIOUS!!! I remember this! I wasn't shown because Instructor Joe put me with the tall people. I love my little sisters. THEY ARE SOO CUTE!!! Thank you Master Ramirez for posting this.
Great video! Learned a lot!

@steve200779 Yes I would say we are teaching accuracy before the speed and power come in :)

you better hope your knee-er is accurate... It's belly pad or nothing for me.
