  • I wish i had a docter like him, my docter was like "Yep, he has legg perthes, come back in a year to check his progress."

  • Sterretje1996: Thanks for your comments and for sharing a bit of your own story.

  • I have it too, I am glad for you that you are able to do things you like. I know the problem of not being allowed to jump, to run, or even to do PE. It is strange, most people cannot see what it really is. I don't know how it was for you, but i raced across the territory when I was in group 4 with crutches, they didn't see what was there. But i know what you could have had, i am really glad for you you had somebody who really helped you with this. The best wishes

  • I had perthes

  • Enuiofmoonglade: We hope your hip replacement goes well!

  • im 24 years old now. and im feeling your pain im very much admiring your courage and endurance and determination. im still suffering quite bad since my hip bone joint is now very flat and deformed the socket. these days my pain can stop me doing stuff such as work. but my specialist at the hospital has deterimed that i will be gettin a hip replacement. i honesty can not wait for this life changing event where i can make up for so much lost living and just feel like im not held back by anything.

  • Thanks for sharing, Ladnygirl and jbinkley79!

  • I got Perthes when I was 6...it healed pretty good...however, I still have pain... Jajajaja but I do almost everything and I LOVE to dance jajaja

  • Thanks so much for sharing your story and the progress you've made since treatment. We are thrilled to hear that you are enjoying life to the fullest!

  • diagnosed at 13.. its been 6 years since my last surgery and I am now in college playing intramural soccer, bowling, and football. I am back to my old self with only minimal pain on certain occasions and loving my life. I owe so much to Dr. Standard and his team at Sinai Hospital they were just incredible. If anyone has any questions or just wants to talk you can follow me on twitter @IrishPDPirate or add me on Facebook- Patrick Drudy.... 2Hip4Perthes!

  • I got diagnosed with perthes disease at age 13, 5 years later i am capable of doing most activities that any teenager can do.

  • O jesus, you're just like me. I love to dance and I'll get perthes 2.

  • That girl is beautiful.

  • Hope mine wont get worst!diagnosed at 8 now im 24

  • @Endi226 Thanks for your question. Please check your YouTube inbox for more info.

  • does anyone know how much would such an operation cost if you have no insurance? I'm not from the U.S. but I would really like to undergo such operation. Thank you in advance.

  • Diagnosed at 10. Doctors felt it would be better to simply take pressure off the hip instead of perfprming triple osteotomy... guess what, 11 ops including a leg lenthening later at the age of 25... Im starting to prepare for my first hip replacement already... Love it when doctors try "new Things"

  • I noticed you went to Sinai Hospital. I have an eye specialist there. I live about an hour from there.

  • i also have perthes but i will go in ancaran at 7.february and the doctors there are kind, they explain everything and they are very organaized and they are good surgeions.i realy hope they are gonna fix this stuff.im 14 by the way

  • My son, 15, was just diagnosed with perthes in one hip and told he can no longer play football and lacross, he is very sad. he has never experienced severe pain and I'm wondering what would be the drawback in allowing him to play for the remainder of high school, he loves the sports. He has been told that he will have to have hip replacement surgery eventually but to put it off as long as possible so he won't have to do it again....help

  • I was diagnosed at 7, I'm 31 now and still have pain, I've suffered my whole life with the pain, it just depends pretty much on the level of insurance you have, bad insurance? you get a brace and a fist full of pain meds, good insurance, and you get this....

  • i got it too sigh

  • Hi guys , I have perthes, i am 15 years old. Before 2 years I know that i have perthes , doctors told me that i only to practice swimming... I dont work other sports , only swimming ...

  • I had Perthes as a child in England during the 1950's. I was very lucky as the disease was found early (at age five) and the treatment in those days was a long stay in hospital with a couple of surgeries and a complete plaster leg cast for two years!!! However after treatment and a few months with a leg brace after coming out of hospital, I was completely okay and have never had a problem since! I'm now 65 years old and active, with no hip problems at all. Treatment has come a long way! .

  • Hi We are from the UK,My daughter has had Perthes since 4,she is now 10 and had a Valgus Osteotomy last year, at the moment she is still suffering pain, and problems with walking she is twisting her hip. She has a metal plate and 6 screws fitted on her femur (inside her leg). I am praying something will give but she has a deformed Pelvis now due to the disease.

  • glitteringglory- I would like to talk to you if possible. I am 33, and was one of the first to have the surgery at 7 years old, but now am having terrible pain causing limping again. My x-rays don't show anything signifigant other than some beginning minor arthritis (expected.) Not sure what to do next.

  • my son goes to this doctor and I just love him. He is soo pleasant with the kids. My son is having reconstructive surgery fora birth defect. The hospital is very good too

  • @adoptmom2 I go to him to hes so nice! I love him!!!

  • Thanks for the video! I also had legg perthes as a child-in the 3rd grade I was put on crutches. I'm 34 now and having hip pain (sometimes very severe). My orthopedic says they will need to do a hip replacement someday. I hope you have many years free of pain. I am glad you are doing so well! Glad the surgeries worked! :)

  • Not everyone needs surgery though, epecially if you get it earlier rather than later.
