the thing i like about your work is its obvious you dont ever half ass anything, you always go the extra mile to make it erfect, but i guess it is your car, so you would want it perfect
Hey Steve Drew here, at 5:53 i noticed you had Dynamat. How does that compare to the second skin? I personally have some Dynamat but still have rattles and was going to purchase some second skin or Dynamat. Which do you prefer?
@meade916 lmao to funny, what dont people get? they all know u wont listen to them by now..everyone should just sit back and learn n stop adding suggestions on what steve should do..he is a fucking PRO!! u do some nasty sick work bro
Steve, i hafta admit, i would have never thought of this kinda thing in my stereo build..Sadly at the moment i dont have a ride, but i do enjoy seeing people show how they build up theirs...keep up the good work..I cant wait to see how this is gonna come out..
I'm confused at you how are going to access the batteries once the lid is down. (in case you need to get to them for one reason or another) Will you have to unscrew the lid from the frame and completely remove it again to get to the batteries below? Sorry if the answer is on the forum, I haven't looked yet, so i apologize in advance if it has.
have soem advice id make a sheet metal thing to go around the bottom of the batteries too so they'll b pretected from the elements b/c they deff arent cheap
also to keep rocks from hitting them and so that nobody can look under your truck see batteries. It also wouldn't hurt to insulate the batteries that are outside of the cab so in the winter, they don't get so cold (if it gets cold in the winter where you are or may be going) and they wont knock together that way.
insulate them so they dont get so cold in the winter? theres nothing different about them being there with no shielding than being under that thin ass sheet metal hood. granted it would warn up after starting but still gonna see the low temps just the same sitting there. bein that there AGM batts the heat or cold dont effect them hardly at all.
so instead of spot welding it and getting it done i should have stopped everything i was doing and had my company look into a norlock machine......hope THEY buy it, wait for it to get here, then use it a month later. All that instead of a few quality spot welds LOL. No thanks.
looking good looking good, shoulda done a before and after on the new lid before the damepening, just in case ppl haven't seen the one you did with the paint can. But its whatever lol.
just a lil concern... The batteries are hangin under the car, so they are gonna be exposed to rain, snow ect. Are u gonna be wrappin shiit around them or somethin to protect them? I highly recommend that you do. Other than that, this is an incredible build. Keep the video's comin.
Steve,I have mad respect for you, I think your a genius, and I always look foward to your videos...but please..CHANGE THE BATTERY IN YOUR SMOKE DETECTOR :)
P.S. Steve, I was one of those people asking about enclosing the battery rack to protect it from weather...
Just to let you know, I wasn't trying to be condescending, I mean OF COURSE you know what you're doing Lol... I wasn't trying to give you advice, quite the opposite, I was asking what exactly you planned on doing as I'm sure a lot of other guys did too..
Anyway, great little series you got going here with the build videos.. photos just don't cut it for me, try to get more footage in yo!
Part of not boxing in the frame underneath is so that a casual glance underneath shows the batteries and the ingenuity that went in the design. Though I suppose you could wrap the box underneath with Lexan so you could still see the batteries and seal them from the elements at the same time.
yeah but going by the demos never heard lynch in your ride season of the sickness tight cd i wish you would bang some old master p but if not its all good keep up the great vids steve
Yeah Steve just use self tapping screws ,but it will help to pilot drill just a bit smaller and i guarantee u those babies will go in, sheet metal can be a pain in the ass ...
Okay i have 3 questions...first how are you gonna hook the batteries up to the amps if the batteries are completely sealed off. Second, hows is the subwoofer box gonna be right on top of the batteries?..And third, what about the seal for underneath the car, i thinks that what everybody is talking about..
When are you going to replace the batteries in that smoke detector!? I've been hearin' it chirp probably the past month...haha! Thanks for vlogging the battery box rebuid though!
im sure hes got something in mind but regardless of what he does or how he does it u can guarantee its gonna look professional cause lets face it no one does it like steave meade he should have some sort of program on discovery channel or something like that
i would forget the screws and drill your holes where you would put screws and use rivits then when you needed to open it up use a punch and a hammer to pop the rivits out or drill them out its quick and solid....but i still say you should sheet metal the inside of the batt box to protect them betterys and clean it up
id have thought along the lines of some sort of shell around the open areas of the battery tray in case bits were flying up as he was driving along pottentially damaging the batteries but im sure he knows exactly what hes doing im sure he might have something in mind
honestly i would have tryed to fab it to the body and brace it to the frame..so basicly clean up the inside and weld it solid from in the truck up top then have it go down and weld and mount it to the frame...but ya im still waiting to see whats next lol
if it means i can come work with you for a day ill replace your batteries in your smoke alarms that keep chirping haha.
