Asian or any other foreign taxi drivers in the uk are not CRB checked as there records are un-traceable. British ones are. It was said in the wrong context and has totally been blown out of proportion.

I think you'll find that Bristol City Council's taxi examination is VERY lax compared to others in the country; immigrants who have in the country less than six months can sit and pass the exam. Because of their limited time in the UK, CRB checks cannot be made on them.

There have been many problems with this vis-a-vis sex crimes.

Many established taxi drivers (including "Asians") are concerned about this threat to their livelihood and are calling for tighter regulations.
