designer's boss should know that current design direction is going to delete all the SUBARU's identity. i hope designer oneself is wishing same thought.
I got to look at a few at a Subaru dealership and I think on the whole it's great. The only thing that gets me is the front and back seem rather blunt so it resembles more of a box then anything else. The styling should have stayed the same from the '08 model.
legacy dont looks boring stock, but all lgt owners know that simple changes makes huge differences.
Get JDM head lights, JDM grills, underspoiler, and 18"x10 28mm offset on some KWs and this thing will look sweet. And you are almost always unique because subaru legacy overall is pretty rare on the road.
why dont u tell about fukn transmission , indeed trouble tranny from jatco , have a look in goole : subaru transmission problem, JAtco low quality and under engineered trasmission
yelzhan123: Being a mechanic at a shop that services all types of cars and being a owner of 3 Subaru's 2 with auto trans, I havent seen anything close to the fialers you suggest and other manufactures have even high failure rate. I run the piss out of my 05 Legacy GT and the auto trans is strong.
can not be strong as as FHI-Subaru ordered cheap and old tranny models, shiting throu gears really gets me nervous,i can feel slighr vibrations when making slight acceleration on 4 gear this is due low quality torque conventor, subaru knows it but does not officially declares it, only changes to new conventor to one who claim this provlem constantly ,and there are lots of problems , Try lexus IS 250 AWD, and feel the difference
Buckle up and take your imagination on a virtual test drive in hypersonic sound. Check it out at drivelikenoother [dot] ca and tell us what you think!
@Bly86 Couldn't agree more. Really every car company has become a microcausim of each other. None want to fall behind like GM, Ford, and Chrysler so they copy each other. Cars have become big heavy and extremely ugly. Subaru had a great niche in their cars now they are just like the rest. The WRX is ugly as all getout and this new Legacy is as well. Not to mention the fact that tuning it is now more difficult. This Legacy is for old people...
@bkbaughn Well, when Toyota took over Subaru, one of the main goals was to make Subaru profitable as well as more main stream. Versions like the STi only appeal to little boy-racers that end up destroying components on the car and then making warranty claims against Subaru, so that's a big money loser. Little by little they are going to tone down the entire product line in favor of greater reliability to attract more responsible drivers.
the front headlamps evoke the current G37 lights.......as does the side profile with its flared fenders. From the back it somewhat resembles the camry with its tail lights but overall i think they've done a solid job redesigning the Legacy. If i could get a decent lease on it i could definitely c myself driving one.
Oh yeah, and the GT is also missing mirror mounted turn signal indicators, electroluminescent gauges, and by the looks of this car, fog lamps. And it only comes with a manual transmission now, even though many GT's were sold as automatics. But the car is so ugly now, it wouldn't matter what features it had - I still wouldn't buy one!
The torque is amazing and its all there at low RPMs. This legacy is 3.2 inches taller. It's wheelbase is 3.2 inches longer, but the overall length is only 1.2 inches longer. This change is a big plus for hadling and ride comfort. The added wheelbase length gives rise to the immense amount of legroom.
It also has a new subframe in the front and rear, with double wishbone suspension in back that makes for a much larger trunk area.
Bluetooth is now standard, as well as an updated 8" Navi.
I love that a guy called assbag is calling me an idiot! Actually, I own a 2007 Legacy 2.5i Limited, which is a much better looking car than this monstrosity! Also, the dash on the 2010 looks cheap, and they eliminated numerous features like dual exhaust, folding mirrors, a temp gauge on the instrument cluster, 4 stage seat heaters, and who knows what else. It's basically an AWD Camry now, except even uglier than a Camry...
I agree. I too have a 2007 2.5i Limited. It's sexy and black (okay, obsidian black pearl). I HATE that this thing looks like a camry. Are they trying to appeal to old women and boring, gutless men?
you are right mj. I went to look at the new ones (was looking to trade in my "05 GT Limited) and the salesmen bragged that the Legacys are $1,000 cheaper across the board. They have sucked the money right out of the interior. It looked cheap-assed!
No longer for me...I drove down the road and bought a new Maxima S w/premium package, Love It!!
the older legacy sedan's looked more sporty, the 2010 looks a lil more generic in its body style. still wouldnt mind having this car though, its a beaut
i'm sure the JDM spec we will get it new zealand will have around 280 bhp or maybe even more. The euro/ US versions are slightly down tuned. nice car!!!!
The turbo was moved underneath the engine in order to facilitate a shorter path from the exhaust ports to the turbine housing. This decreases turbo lag which is always a good thing. I just hope the actual size of the turbo is adequate for higher boost levels. Being turbo+awd with a standard 6 speed transmission makes it a great tuner platform. Hopefully AccessPort and a turbo back exhaust will be available by the end of the year.
@alexebox they mean that the turbo is on the left of where the hood scoop is and the turbo now is in front right around the bumper area i suppose. the hood scoop is for cooling the intercooler charged air b4 it goes into the engine.
Just keep hitting 7. Please.

I believe Toyota only owns a small percentage of Subaru. In fact, Subaru is owned by Fuji Industries.

You mean "stake".... not steak.

Toyota owns a small percentage of Subaru. Subaru's parent company is still Fuji Heavy Industries.

so, why is there still a hood scoop if the turbo is not on top any more? just for looks?
alexebox 2 years ago
The hood scoop feeds air to the intercooler, not to the turbo. The IC is still a top-mount and is located under the scoop.
