  • This was such a fascinating toy, I remember going to my friends house and spending time together making each our own monster. Finally after fooling around with our creations we'd melt their flesh off in the vat.

Good memories, if this set ever shows up on ebay, I'm going to be all over it. Only problem is, will the "flesh" still work?

  • This toy was awesome, I this I still have the skeletons in a box of toys my mom would never throw away

  • Damn! I remember this!

  • I had this toy back in the day. It should of been the other way around...

  • I had this toy back in the day.

  • NC: Holy shit doctor, we were making drugs?

Doctor: Why do you think I'm so manic all of the time?!!

Thumbs up if you heard this on the Nostalgia Critic's latest review.

  • @CanadianRanger17 I'm currently watching the episode.

  • This was one of the coolest Christmas presents I ever got as a kid.

  • im a 2000s kid and id rather have this than a cell phone

  • TOOOOOOOOOO GROSS

  • Lol.....So you make a monster.....

then you watch as your creation slowly dies away?

I mean, making monsters IS fun.

    but.....Is that water corrosive!?

Lol I'd probably make it look like Reptile from Mortal Kombat,

Then put a "bridge" on top of the jar. Making it look like the dead pool stage.

Then drop him in saying "FATALITY!!!!"

  • @applejax89 Actually, from what I remember, you added powdered citric acid to the water, dropped the monster in, then added baking soda. I didn't melt too many monsters because I liked playing with the putty. I also ended up eating all of the citric acid! But the Living Ice was the BEST! I'd pay $50 for a new container of Living Ice & the little 2-piece mold!

  • The water was tasty I remember

  • God I wanted this thing so bad as a kid. I used to stare in awe at the box in the toy aisle of Woolworth's.

Alas it was never to be. I had the disect-an-alien, but it was a cheap runner up to this.

  • @nic0demis Why? did you parents think it was... TOO GROSS!? 9>)

  • This is how awesome my childhood was. I didn't have the internet, I didn't have a fucking cell phone. I didn't even have the respect from my parents for them to call me some shit like a "tween".....no, I had something much more cooler and that was MAD SCIENTIST which made me create monsters and dissolve them in acid.....what did I learn? NOTHING!!!! NOT A DAMN THING OTHER THAN I HAD FUN PLAYING GOD!!! MUWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

  • I loved the one where you disected an alien. That was always my favorite thing.

  • Haha.. I had this..

  • Aint that the kid from ROTLD2?

  • this was my very favorite toy when I was younger!

  • OMFG i had this!lol it was the shit!

  • @F0rkb0y remember "disect-an-alien"

  • The most sadistic toy ever invented. I first saw the commercial when I was eating breakfast and I nearly puked. I did buy a couple of Mad Scientist toys, but I never dissolved anything. (I had the blue monster mold creature and the living ice dragon).

  • The 80's was the real scene after around 1995 evrything turned to junk

  • Why wasnt I born in the 80s :(

  • I had this and a bunch of other Mad Scientist toys. I still have a complete Glowing Glop in the box and extra Glowing Glop packets from the original. Nothing spells fun like making someone's drink expand into useless glop. :)

Oh and the green crap from this kit smelled HORRID. Good stuff! :D

  • I'm 14 and sadly id rather have this than a cell phone

  • man toys suck these days! i wish they made toys like them

  • This is disturbing.

  • Does anyone remember the name of the insect looking guys that had the giant spider they would ride? The spider was actually a glove you would put on your hand.

  • @Jsparrow350 Sectaurs perhaps?

  • @diepopedie2 yeah that was them, i actually found them right after posting the question. THX

  • I had this!! I loved melting monsters!! The living ice protected them!

  • I would love to have this.

  • Ahh.. 80s marketing.

  • thats it, I have been looking for the name of this for the last 15 years lol

  • 80s toys were the best!

  • lol i had this thing, i remember i liked the way the gel smelled. =D

  • This is so weird I mean like, how does.............. oh sorry. I just puked alittle. XP

  • Oh man this set was awesome!! I loved all the Mad Scientist stuff.

  • This and all of the other Mad Scientist toys, especially that grotesque dissect the alien toy, were favorites of mine as a kid. I used to play with this set for hours, creating the nastiest looking monsters i could and then dumping them into the little tank to watch their green flesh quickly melt away. It's a damn shame they don't make toys anywhere nearly as cool as this anymore. Say, that kid on the left of the screen at 0:18 looks a lot like the kid from the 88 remake of The Blob and ROTLD 2.

  • @TheAltair4

OMG i had these toys too when i was a kid as well, i'm sure it's the same boy from Blob and Return of the Living Dead 3.

  • @Johnlindsey289 These toys were badass, right? Yeah, i knew i had seen that kid somewhere before. lol. I believe his name is Michael Kenworthy.

  • This Monster Flesh Better Not Be Play Doh!

  • ewww...

  • I'm so glad I was an 80's kid!

  • looks like shrek!

  • I hope when i die I can somehow relive the 80's childhood I had.

  • @gibbick Totally! Being a kid in the 80's gave you access to the most creative, weird and cool toys imaginable.

  • I had that toy!!!

  • I loved these as a kid! I had all of them. I wish I would have at least saved the comics that came with each kit.

  • i had this! dear god the same christmas i got nintendo. *tear*

  • Thanks for the memories. ^^

  • 80s and 90s toys were the shiznit! Way better than cel phones or video games!

  • I Like The ''Too Groos'' And The ''Too Yucky''

  • what was that toy set called where you could make edible gummy spiders and monster brains. It was basically an easy bake for boys. I would always burn my hands on the metal molds used for the gummy spiders. Does anyone remember what it was called? it's driving me nuts.

  • @KentTouchThis86 Creepy Crawlers

  • @KentTouchThis86 are you talking about proffesor horibilus laboratory?

  • To this day there is still some Living Ice stuck to my parents ceiling.

  • I got a Mad Scientist monster lab for Christmas in 1987. Good times!

  • that is sick and disturbing.

  • My dad has one of these in the attic that he never opened

  • The clear flesh is also called living ice it was a Gel flesh.

And mine still is soft it did not dry out.

  • Picked this over an action figures.

And living ice was way better than an action figure. I dropped my he-man like a bad habbit and played with living ice.

  • living ice was the shit

  • i had this along with dissect an alien!!

  • THESE WERE FUKEN AWESOME!!!!!!

  • Now that's what i call a toy! todays toys are so boring!I you just move them around and it should be fun! this is a cool toy!

  • i can still smell that flesh remover stuff

  • me too along with Heman SLIME

  • this was cool but do you know any one that picked this over a cool action figure

  • They dont make them like this anymore. Are toys and cartoons were the best.I love that I grew up in this era.Kids nowadays are corupted by technology.

  • i use to have the watch! it was a freaky looking BAT , i wish i still had it!

  • It's a shame....kids today would rather have a cell phone than a fun toy like this

  • @phyrstjedi not me!

  • years ago i wanted the dessect an alien set. but i could never find it. thin is it was only at Toyrus then (damned exclusives X(!!!).

  • @phyrstjedi i envy you guys

  • @phyrstjedi Yeah, really. :p

    You ARE being sarcastic, right?

  • Interesting. You make stuff and then kill it.

  • @MasterBelmont - Truly the most masculine of all past times.

If only they lit on fire after the skin dissolved...

  • Do you have the commercial for the "Dissect an Alien" toy?

  • Had it...thought it was pretty damn cool...I recall the green stuff had a weird smell...

I think mine came with some weird clear stuff too...that didn't disolve

  • Uncleroyhoggins, it was Living Ice. The clear stuff. ;)

  • Comment removed

  • I think toys were a lot more clever years ago...

  • I still got mine. just the vat and the bones. Toys were the shit back in the day.

  • I actually had that toy!It was loads of fun!

  • me too. I had this and the other: Dissect an alien. very funny.

  • yeah! i had both of those i got em for my birthday when i was in kindegarden (1987) they were my favorite toys

  • I had the alien dissection one! I also had the one where you put the monster flesh on this balloon thing and made a monster face out of it and then pushed a button and made it blow up and distort the face. GOD I loved that toy. LOL

  • yes THEY were real toys, not today's horrible things

  • Apparently they made a tv show too (I didn't remember that)! The mad scientist toys came out around '87

  • I REMEMBER THAT! TOO FUNNY!

  • That was pretty cool. Old ads are the best.

  • i remember this commercial... back then i didnt know what they were saying
