@mofemobile I'm not sure but seeing the way he climbs up the neck, it looks like he's playing an arpeggio of the chord he's playing over. Maybe a few different arpeggios. : P
I dig that fat sound man, what guage are your strings? I got a strat and I dont like bending real thick strings so Ill never have that nice thick sound lol.
No, I got 9s on there now (I think their 9s, I havent changed them from the ones that came when I bought it). Im gunna try some 10s and see if I can man up lol.
you can get it try an eq pedal to boost the lower mids. humbuckers do help but i can get a very good thick jazz sound on a strat. a lot if it is how you pick and how you play not your gear
Marty, this vid is perfect...I was searching yt for mixo lessons but non of em was as good as this one,,,and with application...thank you, subscribed ;)
I'm still working on that one, but one cool aplication is if you are playing A mixo over A7 and it goes to the IV chord (D7) play the A melodic minor over D7 and you get the D7 Lydian dominant. I've got something on this that I will put up!!
How do I know when to apply the A mixo? I guess my question is how do I know what mode to use? Ive got a copy of Guitar Grimoire. Its great for laying out scales and modes but I'm still lost on how to apply it.
A mixolydian would be played over a progression that revolves around an A7 chord.
D mixo would be over a D7 chord so forth and so on. there is obviously a lot more theory than that and this basic rule will almost always work, but unfortunately there is a lot more to know about all this stuff. Start with this idea however!!!

F#m (or A6)
D#7/C slide up to Em6 (same chord just one fret higher)
C#7(no5) slide up to D7 (no5) (same chord)
E9+ (no5) thats the final chord of the progression, if you have any questions, feel free to ask ;)
