Im in the Utrecht School of the Arts in the Netherlands, studying animation. this is my first year.
We get taught to turn into a commercial animator, a freelance animator instead of a studio animator for, for example, disney or whatever.
the downside to this is that they dont really allow exploration of own ideas, they really focus on the dutch animation industry, which limits potential international futures for students.. I wonder how this turns out for me. I'll put my focus on online animation
I gotta say, I'm a little nervous about college. I have always wondered if it is really what Im gonna need and look for. Will I get shredded by super strict standards or will I learn nothing?
@heartlessmushroom If you do decide to go into art (or any college) make sure you care about it. Instructors will critique you and give you advice, but they won't hold your hand and show you how. You get limited guidance. What you learn is entirely based on how much you care about what you're doing. I'm only starting to improve as I get closer to graduating and all my actual drawing classes have been over with for 3 years.
i loves these podcast things, i listen to them whilst i work in photoshop. KEEP DOING THEM

With the expansion of the internet, college has become largely obsolete, it's only a matter of time until the majority catches onto that.
8:45 - 9:30 This is great advice for any person looking to achieve something.
You say you know few books that cover the principles of drawing well, would you mind listing them?
