god i just love this theme its amaing cant stop watching it if it were on cd like the oder doctor who albums that r out that i got i definetly buy this
Actually, Delia Derbyshire herself didn't like the spangles and disapproved of their addition to the theme. I'm with her on this one -- I prefer to keep the version of the Derbyshire theme in this as close to the original as possible. Thanks though. :)
I concur. Sounds like he turned the volume on the old samples way up, and pushed the orchestral elements to the back. And even the orchestral stuff sounds appropriately electronic...
I made the theme using Sony ACID Pro, using a wide variety of both software and hardware to create the sounds. All the orchestral components were provided by EWQL Symphonic Orchestra and StormDrum, and all the electronic components were played on my Roland Juno-6 and Yamaha DX21 synthesizers. It was finally combined with isolated elements of the original Derbyshire theme, just like the original Gold theme.
I must say I look forward to seeing your own realisation of the theme on whomix in all it's glory. You have helped in many themes but not done your own. It's about time.
Well, to be fair, I think we can blame YouTube a little for that. I've been working on this theme for a little over three months now, and I've stayed up until the wee hours of the morning many times tweaking and tweaking until every little thing's been perfect. I'll try and be on MSN soon... I'll be able to show you the full composition then, and hopefully you'll like it a little better. Thanks for commenting though!
That's really good that!!

whats the derbyshire theme?
CassandraWho 4 years ago
The first ever version and arrangement of the signature tune. :-)
DoctorWhoJohnnyBoy 4 years ago
It's very good, because the actual Gold theme overshadows Delia's theme. It should be the other way around, like what you've created.
breeinmd 4 years ago
Thank you -- I very much agree that Delia's theme should take the lead, but Murray seems to have gone a bit orchestra-mad lately. :(
timelord726 4 years ago
Even in this rough form it's way better than the actual TV one.
ariesroc 4 years ago
i like this bettemore electronic, none of that orchestra crap
CassandraWho 4 years ago
i kinda agree, it should be electronic > orchestra, not the other way round!

It sounds a little... flat. Not note-wise, but composition-wise. Its lacking a bit of air and depth. But not a bad effort.
