Ok been honest Thin Lizzy has to be the best rock band for there time and even today they are still one of the greatest band's around pity about Phil himself not been around to rock the stage!
This is the best intro and first song ever recorded! The pyros, the smoke. the orange, Phil's move... I think my head would have exploded if I were actually there. Thanks for the post gdeggdeg!
3:30 I wear the same shoes as Phil Lynott! WOOT! LOL. I do wear red Chucks but I think Phil's wearing the high-tops while I wear the low ones, which would explain the Star on the shoe. Random this was but this just makes Phil Lynott a little bit cooler to me lol! RIP Phil...and Gary too!
BERLIN (Reuters) – A German court has ordered former Thin Lizzy guitarist Gary Moore to pay damages after ruling the guitar solo in his 1990 hit "Still Got the Blues" had been plagiarized from a German song written in 1974.
A court in the southern city of Munich said on Wednesday the solo in Moore's song was too similar to the one in "Nordrach" by the band Jud's Gallery not to have been copied
@lukevertiis OK they were Irish, Kind of, if you say so, The band was certainly of irish origin, and the roots grew in Dublin and phiip would not let anyone say they wernt... So Bizarly i agree with you actually..!!
Apart from all the obvious stuff about the history of the band their songs include: Emerald (obvious and which also is played in 3/4, the timing of an Irish jig), Whiskey in the Jar (old Irish folk song about an Irish rebellion group), The Friendly Ranger At Clontarf Castle (which is in Dublin), Eire (Ireland), Clifton Grange Hotel (which is about the hotel Lynnotts mother ran in Dublin) and Roisin Dubh (Irish language for Black Rose,a medley of Irish folk songs
@lukevertiis OK i will settle this, Philip Lynott Birmingham UK, Eric Bell Belfast UK Eric Wrixon Belfast UK, Brian Downey Dublin Ireland,, Gary Moore Belfast UK,, John Cann UK,, Andy Gee Berlin Germany,, Brian Robertson Scotland UK, Scott Gorham California USA ,, Mark Nauseef New York USA,, Midge Ure Scotland UK,, Dave Flett Scotland UK,, Snowy White Devon UK,, Darren Wharton Manchester UK,, John Sykes Reading UK ,, Looks more Scottish, Northern Irish or even American than Irish
@jackshit64yea The band came together in Dublin. Places of birth mean very little; Lynott was raised in Dublin, not in Birmingham. best thing they did was go out with a bang rather than carry on, getting older and weaker and living off their reputations.... like rod stewart, quo, etc
Yes, there is only one legend that could hold their own with Thin, and that was the man himself, I'm sure in the idolhood of Lizzy members, the one and only Rory Gallagher.
hm^^ Snowy White did the "The Wall" Shows with Pink Floyd one year before, and I find it quite surprising to see him play this kind of fast rock^^ he's playing great, of curse, but he's not rocking out like his bandmates in here, LoL
They were never underrated by me or anyone I know that ever heard or saw them live. I was lucky enough to catch em live 5 or 6 times and I still listen to them today, BRILLIANT

@hailknopfler2 Fair enough.. that goes for AC/DC with Bon Scott... once he died everyone realised that bon scott was acdc and brian was never going to be able to match him... Statue of bon scott in fremantle, australia.. that is same as phil lynott... Both legends of real rock and roll
@lordnewry with phil i agree but to say that ac/dc wasnt as good or people didnt think they were good after bon scott died is retarded. ac/dc had their biggest hits after bon scott died. im not saying he wasnt great im just saying brian johnson is also amazing and the best replacement they couldve hoped for
@lordnewry I don't agree with you, I too like most the Bon Scott years, but Brian did an awesome work and made many classics with AC/DC. But I do agree that Bons death helped them reach the top. Therefore, I don't think they made a statue of him because they compared the two singers, although AC/DC changed their sound with Brian from rock n' roll to heavy rock.
@bigwhitebear1 im 14 and only play this kind of music. im looking for other kids who like this knd of music trying to start a band and bringing the good music back.
@pipsqueek14 My hats off to you Pip.... I was 16 when they came out and no one is better.... good luck to you and I hope you keep Phil Lynott bass and vocals, Scott Gorham lead guitar , Brian Downey drums and Brian Robertson lead guitar alive ....110% Classic Rock n Rock ....
