All singers are capable of achieving international fame, but they differ a lot in certain respects. Famous singers of today get commended by their "unique" talents, meaning, they could easily be identified by listening to the voice alone, and also their "voice personality". Its no longer about reaching high notes, or sustaining a key, like how they were traditionally judged.

really don't understand why ppl, mostly filipinos, compare regine & charice when the two singers have way different voice quality and vocal ranges (can regine sing the low notes?). Regine is a veteran singer/entertainer, but Charice is a trailblazer/model for other local artist and the responsibility lies heavy on her shoulders. Really hope she makes it good.

Charice is KNOWN in the United States, but not FAMOUS. Not as famous as all the other young singers. ALSO. If the "birit" style was not introduced in our country the way Regine did, there would be no Charice, because FILIPINOS love birit because of Regine. Let's face the truth. CHARICE has a LONG way to go. Charice has not made a mark in the music industry. Charice is not yet an ICON. So there is no way she will be better.

Having a multiplatinum album is not much of an indication of a growing fame (internationally), because other local singers had the same achievement,tho not really famous in the international arena
The Asia Pacific Singing Contest where Regine won was back in 1989...2011 na po ngayon. Some singers in fact were claiming the same title "Asia's Songbird", which makes it sound GENERIC

All singers are capable of achieving international fame, but they differ a lot in certain respects. Famous singers of today get commended by their "unique" talents, meaning, they could easily be identified by listening to the voice alone, and also their "voice personality". Its no longer about reaching high notes, or sustaining a key, like how they were traditionally judged.

If you're popular internationally that doesn't mean your more talented than anybody else.Remember, success is not measured on what awards or stature you have received but it's more on HOW you reached for it. She did not use youtube for fame and recognition, she just used her voice and that's what you call, REAL TALENT.A 40 year old prof. singer woman is not deserving to be compared to an 18y/o starter, its a handicapped comparison.
