  • They picked it up towards the end of time consumer the last maria and mathew was great and Ive seen worse performances of delirium trigger by them

  • i bet those people are like... "who the fuck is maria and matthew?...what the fuck is this monstar he speaks of?"

  • I wish I was here..

  • omg. claudio's got the same exact guitar i have... omg thats awesome

  • Holy. Fucking. Shit...DELIRIUM DRIGGER fucking amazing performance!

  • LOL 6:25 hahahahahha lmfao ahahahha what a ass whole!!!

  • Comment removed

  • when they start playing delirium u can really see they were influenced by at the drive-in

  • I love seeing these kind of videos, I'm in a band and we're just now starting to play shows, and it's good to see that even the bands we look up to had to start somewhere.

  • @eifersucht14c i don't know, i went to a ton of local concerts in Pittsburgh growing up and listening to this now (despite the quality) I'm still amazed at the creativity and structure of their songs. I think it's extremely rare that you just stumble into a band like this when they're local. you're right, you don't know what you'll miss but this blows everything out of the water that i saw back in the day, and now a lot of those bands have had radio, mtv, etc hits.

  • claudio*

  • Clauido is fucking different now lololol

  • i didnt even recognize claudio! hahaha awesome.

  • I have never seen a band look like they're having so much fun

  • @Chisquared1 It's called stage presence, and they have lots of it, even back then.

  • Was this when they were Shabutie?

  • @NemethBooshi No, it was shortly after they changed their name to Coheed and Cambria.

  • I don't understand why people say this performance sucks. I understand it's not as polished as the songs and videos we are used to seeing of this great band, but this music is so much better and original than the stuff I hear down her ein the south that I'd think it was classic if I was there

  • could you just imagine being there at that time...."we have a table over ther with some stuff on it."

  • Haha Claudio's like "we're Coheed and Cambria," and like two people clap. Now all they have to do is walk out on stage and the walls get covered in jizz.

  • @fender412 theyre good but not turn you gay good

  • @fuzzysae86 Yea...I see so many jizz jokes in the comments of Coheed vids. Thought I'd share one. In retrospect it does sound kinda gay. Oh well. These guys are awesome, plain and simple.

  • Great video. Love watching early shows from bands.

  • This is by far the best Coheed and Cambria video in existence. Shows their real heart. I love it. Nothing is staged. It's just so beautiful.

  • well it would appear that claudio got better at standing still, but mic and travis are a lost cause

  • D --> Haha, Claudio sounds like shit here. I would've been like "Screw this" and left the show, but then I would've missed out on seeing what this band has now become and how awesome it is in all. The whole band is freakin' amazing.

  • I wonder if they had any idea how epic they were going to become.

  • Time heals all things. Including in this case turning this crap into the most epic thing since the wheel was invented.

  • He has done that guitar trick all his life...

    4:22

    I love that.

  • Omg Claudio has improved vocally SOOOO MUCH it's RIDICULOUS. Listen to how off key he goes here, and then in neverender when he just hits the note PERFECTLY. Man, practice does make perfect...

  • Claudio sounds better live nowadays.

  • Mike looks like that 'hide yo kids hide yo wife' dude that just got arrested..

  • my only guess for the 11 dislikes would be that they are the jocks from coheeds high school

  • It's funny to see Claudio as a tiny little rat, where as today; he's a beast among men!

  • Mic was so energetic back then, I really want to see him jump around and be more lively on stage :(.

  • @CallMeCrispy dude i just saw them in oakland last saturday and Mic was going crazy on stage haha pretty much the exact same way he is in this vid

  • CLAUDIO PLAYING A GUITAR THAT'S NOT AN EXPLORER?

Dear god, this was a while ago.

  • @GreenRacket Also the hair...

  • Seeing this video really shows how great they became they are the best band I know of!

  • holy hell.. i just saw them last week in Dallas and it's crazy how much they have gotten better :P for some reason i just thought they were always perfect. It was the best show I've ever been to in my entire life haha it would have been crazy awesome to have seen them back at the beginning, even with some vocal mishaps and a small fro :D

  • I'm really glad that Mic realized that the bandana is not his thing.

  • It's kick ass to watch this imperfect video and wonder if they knew in their minds how fucking insanely awesome they would become one day.

  • I love their energy back then, really shows you how much they loved playing their music! fuckin awesome.

  • As much as I love Coheed, I'm pretty sure it's missed notes, general sloppiness, and Claudio's off-key wailing that made this sound like ass, not the recording.

  • Its nice to see even they had to start somewhere. Claudio definitely did some more vocal training between this and their first album. The work payed off though.

  • @Cotag17 What I can`t understand, though, is that in their earlier songs, as Shabutie, in Godfather`s Lollipop, his voice was very good. I assume that something was up with his voice this day

  • @bababaraan I have not listened to their shabutie stuff much so if thats the case than you very well could be right. For all we know this is could be the first time they performed this song too, and he was still working on the vocals :p

  • there are no words for how upset I am that i never had the opprotunity to see coheed during this stage of their career

  • Claudio's hair looks so good short! but it doesn't look like Claudio.

  • i love this...so early in the CO&CA days that its so bad that its good

  • Videos like this are the reason people should make sure they support their local bands. Don't be ashamed to hit up a gig at a local community center, church, high school, garage, whatever, even with like a dozen in attendance. You never know who you'll have a chance to see before they blow up and change lives, and more importantly it'll show you a whole new side to the music and the comradery that comes with it. Coheed sounded like ass here but so did my friends' band at first and they're growing

  • @eifersucht14c this definitely raised my confidence for getting my band out there and stickin with them.

  • @eifersucht14c That was deep, and I loved every single word! :)

  • @eifersucht14c Dude, i love this recording. but i totaly agree with the rest :P

  • I had a chance to see them right around this time in Eastern Mass. at a VFW with Moment. I looked at the Flyer and was like. "Coheed and Cambria that sounds like a cool name for a band"...haha, I never went. I've been kicking myself since. Although I did see them open for Thrice(pre Artist in the Ambulance) and Hot Water Music which was amazing.

  • "Is it cool if the delay is a little less...or the reverb." hahahahahahaaah

  • mic does look like a lesbian haha. but why were they at this college? just to play for fun?

  • @mps927 I think this was just a local college to play a show at, they just formed as coheed so i don't think they're going to be playing huge venues, in the documentary they played peoples basements and whatnot early on

  • all of you saying that Caludio looks "wrong" without the hair, obviously haven't seen the documentary that comes with Neverender where there is 1234134 pictures of him with less hair that this...

  • The people at this show have no idea how big this band is going to become.

  • Where's his hair...........

  • when this video was recorded??

    I need to know....please ;)

  • @cypressdex Probably around 2001. This seems to be right before Second Stage Turbine was released.

  • @GreatestSoloEver

    Thank you

    Greetings from Mexico

  • time consumer didnt sound all that great... but DT was fuckin awesome

  • if only they knew what they were seeing

  • Claudio just looks... wrong like that.

  • Damn, no one knew that these guys would become fucking huge and play some of the best music to ever be played. That be awesome to be there, knowing what they would become.

  • that person at the side is really annoying. i want to watch coheed not you god dam you

  • Delirium Trigger will always be my favorite song from them. It's perfect

  • 6:16 Power stance in the making.

  • @jasonlives1028 aww yeahh

  • lol i like how people are trying to show us funny, or cool things you're suppose to set the time before it happens not after dumbass.

  • they opened for my cousins old band around this time. this is awesome, he said it was the best time hes ever seen them

  • ever get the chill after seeing a band live and then hearing them later? yeah, just got that now. I waited 3 years to see them and cried once i did. I love this fucking band

  • It's a good thing it's bad quality so the band can see...what they were built from the most important part of the band is not the people, but when they come together...their start.

  • 2:03 claudio a little too into it and almost missing his part XD

  • i can't even begin to comprehend why anyone would say that this sucks. its absolutely amazing!

  • Wow they sound horrible.

  • @NyavYxor you understand this was recorded with a very old camera, so thats not their real sound... its close but no cigar.

  • @NyavYxor hahaha yeah...claudio COULDNT EVEN SING..how they heck did they get signed from that??

  • @NyavYxor r u kidding me this was the begining of an amazing band about to evolve into what they r today, and it was amazing

  • @NyavYxor I'm sure you sound much better in your moms basement

  • So raw......Remember people they didnt get better from this this is just how they are suppose to sound before they got famous.......RAW

  • wtg nice

  • anyone who disliked this video deserves to be buried alive.

  • HOLY GOD. GREATEST. PREFORMANCE. EVER.

  • 6:10 Claudio-core dance moves.

  • i wish i listened to good music like this when i was 8 yrs old

  • coheed before they sold out and started to wear leather jackets lol

  • @wearesuarez i jave a feeling your joking but either way the y never sold out they just gained a larger, stonger fanbase, and leather jackets are awesome

  • @wearesuarez how did Coheed sell out?

  • @wearesuarez

I don't like the direction they've taken with the last two albums but I would not call that selling out at all.

  • that aint travis or the bassist now right? they went through mad memebrs i think right. someone correct me if i m wrong. dont think i dont love these motherfuckers. i play all their shit. they r amazing. look at claudio he looks like a jew haha

  • @mambaKB24mvp

That's Travis, he just had short hair, and thats still Mic on bass. There was a period before and around the release of their 4th album where shit was shaky, but the original Coheed is still intact except for the drummer.

  • @mambaKB24mvp Since they've been Coheed the lineup has consisted of Claudio, Travis, and Mic. Obviously Josh isn't the drummer anymore but yeah. I totally understand your confusion though, since around the time just before SSTB they went through a shit ton of changes, but since adopting their current name, it's been Travis on guitar and Mic on bass.

  • @rabidbiscuit don't forget about the time during good apollo 1 when Mic left the band for awhile

  • @jonsamuthafucka haha true but the point is that he's back =P

  • this is actually pretty damn good

  • Claudio without his hair, GASP!! They haven't really changed much soundwise, not selling out's doing.

  • I love clauido's dancing at 6:09

  • 9 People missed the Like Button.

  • I wonder if Claudio was thinking at this moment "I'm going to have long badass curly hair in the future."

  • at 3:11 he hits his lip to the mic

  • WOOOOOOOO

  • I would rather go back in time to see them then rather than see them today. Is that bad of me? I mean I still REALLY want go see them now but...I mean wow.

  • 4:29 Epic ninja Claudio

  • aaaah the golden era of coheed when the story, the sound, and the fro were still young

  • @nerdvana9 lol yea i too was about to mention claud's fro. first second i started viewing this i thought this was a cover band

  • the second mic screams in the beginning claud, travis and mic go apeshit for like 15 seconds

  • WHERE DID YOU FIND THIS! Man, they've come a long way. People witnessing this had to have known this is the last time ill see them in this small of a crowd

  • This was fuckin' awesome. Fucking awesome.

  • I think a lot of people think of drummers as an afterthought, but Coheed's original drummer during the SSTB and IKSS suited them way better than the current drummer. Just listen to the interplay between the drums and the guitar when the main riff kicks in on the song In Keeping Secrets.

P.S. Same goes for The Mars Volta

  • HOLY CRAP!!! Mic is rocking that bass' ass!! at 3:27-ish

  • Wow.. Claudio's voice has really changed. Well, not change per say, but rather matured. Hahhah, they're still amazing to watch, even on YouTube

  • Back when they had the right drummer for the band. Btw, I love coheed and have a fucking second stage turbine blade tattoo, but their new album is garbage compared to this.

  • @JSDuncan2113 Agreed.

  • Claudios voice was alittle crackely but its better now just say. I do love this band tho

  • Mike looks like a lesbian

  • @KaptainCook i just loled

  • I was there... I WISH I COULD SAY THAT IS TRUE!

  • @evilemetblack What is the point of this comment?

  • @KevyAbsolution I think he's trying to get "thumbs ups "

  • @FlipTheFlip i could give a fuck about thumbs up hahahahaha i watch videos on youtube, i dont follow the bullshit.

  • @KevyAbsolution ? you are dumb if you really had to call me out like that. It was to say I wish I could have witnessed this. lololol

  • @evilemetblack well your being a fag..what do you expect

  • @grasshoperwit1chpstk lol how am i being a fag? seriously explain how wanting to witness this makes me gay? i'll be glad to hear you out.

  • @evilemetblack i don't know...MAYBE THIS RINGS A BELL!

  • @grasshoperwit1chpstk umad bro?

  • i would sell my soul to own that original sg claudio used before he traded it for his explorer.

  • NOBODY wrote songs like that then or now for that matter including them. I love the new stuff, but just something about seeing people play such ambitious songs before they are good enough to pull it off that's inspiring!

  • Claudio did good in growing his hair out

  • 4:27 - 4:32 = Epic

  • the kid that passes through :55 is fuckin jammin out!

  • @esduayo07 Lmao! Nice catch, that actually made me laugh.

  • its truly an amazing thing to see this video now. god i love this band. they changed my life. this compared to the neverender dvd is amazing. they have grown so much. world domination is probably two years away.

  • danggggg! he even screamed into his pickus then (:

  • Nah, they are different as far as hair goes. Here he is sporting the indie 'fro of 2001 and now he's sporting the football shaped 'fro from early IKSSE:3 era.

  • It's amazing... Michael Todd was rocking that shit out!!

  • Claudio's vocals have come a LONG way.

  • i could some more in the front monitors. poor Claudio

  • just watched Coachella then this, they look the same at least.... :p

  • @relyanddefy haha imagine if claudio cut his hair that short

there's a picture of him with shorter hair in the back of the neverender book

  • I was 11 when this shit was in the works...mind blowing.

  • @sichisch i was 12 and had no idea they existed :(

  • so strange too see a short haired claudio

  • this is awesome. lol @ claudio's voice cracks in time consumer. seeing them in may in pomona, ca. so frickin' anxious.

  • There existed a Coheed before the hair.

  • @ Cobaltandlies

what does me never seeing claudios hair that short have to do with whether or not i have heard shabutie or not? (btw I have)

  • because his hair was that length during almost all of shabutie, in photos and even album promo stuff

  • Is that Kwame, the old merch guy way in the back on the side?

  • ol' school epicness

  • never thought id see him with basically no heair...

  • You've never heard of Shabutie then? Google.

  • i hate the jackass that shoves his ass in front of the camera at 6:25

  • Today they are much better, but still with the same power, Great!

  • @davidthehippo fuck u

  • this is beautiful. it all started on amory street. claudio is our davinci. our mozart. our guidance through music.

  • @XBoneDeathX Claudio's a genius, but he's not fucking da Vinci. Calm down.

  • even when they started they still had such fucking energy...like they knew this was all going to happen

  • Knowing the great Claudio, he probably did...

  • I think he's just as surprised as everyone else in the band...i mean have you seen the bloopers from AFHA The Movie? they're having fun doing what they love...but i think there's something to say about his tenacity either way

  • wow wheres claudio's hair its so short

but great this it truly awsome

  • Claudio's voice is so raw, its amazing. I think I prefer this less refined sound of his voice, it conveys more emotion.

  • i definitely prefer their older songs. It just seems so original to me. Nobody would ever think of the riffs or songs that they made. Definitely one of my most favorite bands of all time.

  • I get what you mean, the Geoff Rickley kind of effect. Voice is all scratchy and unperfect that it rocks.

  • amazing find..... favorite video of them, haha their hair.

  • Intense.

  • i was at this show. i remember thinking "when people find out about this band, it's over."
