Pride was good, but its not like it was that much better then the UFC. Pride did take a lot of tricks from pro wrestling to hype up their events, some guys liked it but overdrawn entrances and cermonial nonsense bore the hell out of. UFC = MMA as a sport, Pride = MMA as a freakshow.

in some statements true, in others bullshit. a cage is a much safer place to fight and in pride judges often didnt stop the fight although one fighter wasnt able to defend himself anymore
how do you figure the cage to be safer? the cage unfairly pins fighters promoting extended lay-n-pray tactics, combined with the possibility of elbows which can result in a severely maiming, fight jeopardizing cuts.
as for not stopping fights soon enough? that wasn't solely a PrideFC problem. There were some instances were a fighter could of been saved from unnecessary strikes; but there's plenty of that same example in ufc or boxing for that matter.

Pride fighters have found mixed success in UFC that's true, Cro Cop didn't do so well, but he's not exactly in prime. Nog is having success, A Silva obviously doing fine, Rampage was doin fine till retiring lastweek. Hendo still fighting pretty good. Wandy hasn't been winning lately, but still putting on amazing fights.

The UFC is a very exciting organization, consisting of some of the best fighters in the world, but I find troubling the lack of true international MMA knowledge of even some of their most die-hard UFC fans. They can run down every fighter in every UFC division, but stare blankly at you when you bring up such names as Shinya Aoki, Chris Horodecki, Eddie Alvarez, Alistair Overeem,Gesias Calvancante, etc. The same with terms such as DREAM, Sengoku, Shooto, Cage Rage, or even Strikefoce.
I don't think they ever showed Cage Rage (RIP) in the US. But PRIDE was indeed available here in the US on PPV (though very late at night), and it produced an English highlight show that aired on FSN. As for the current promotions, you can watch DREAM, Sengoku, and K1 (kickboxing is cool) on HDNet (my condolences to all youTime Warner Cable subscribers), and you can watch Strikeforce on Showtime.

as a boxer im going to have to disagree on the ropes vs cage issue. There have been plenty of fighters who have substained serious injuries from falling through the ropes. The cage is partly ment to stop this from happening- its for the fighters safety although it does play apart in helping grapplers gain position- that just adds to the strategic aspect of fighting- ex. couture
No. You will never have another Cro Cop vs. Fedor type fight or a trilogy featuring the 1 and 2 greatest HW fighters of all time in the UFC. Try to remember that Pride put all these fights on WHILE competing with the UFC. Its only now that Pride is bought out, that the UFC is even coming close to putting on fights of that calibur. But I do know that PRIDE did not want to be sold, UFC stepped in when they were low and bought off the competition saying that they would still keep the PRIDE spirit alive. What a lie!!!
Also, I think PRIDE's shows that took place in America also put them in a tight spot. Not a lot of fanbase support in America and huge production values good do that to a company.

in some statements true, in others bullshit. a cage is a much safer place to fight and in pride judges often didnt stop the fight although one fighter wasnt able to defend himself anymore

how do you figure the cage to be safer? the cage unfairly pins fighters promoting extended lay-n-pray tactics, combined with the possibility of elbows which can result in a severely maiming, fight jeopardizing cuts.
as for not stopping fights soon enough? that wasn't solely a PrideFC problem. There were some instances were a fighter could of been saved from unnecessary strikes; but there's plenty of that same example in ufc or boxing for that matter.

Its so irritating whenever i see UFC fans aka mma wannabes/ uneducated mma fans telling everyone how great ufc is that their judging is the best and that they never favour a fighter.
I say they are just jealous because in Pride, we the fans are well taken care of, treated to awesome parade of fighters. we are civilize,and know our mma. We respect the fighters thus our fighters put in their all in fighting for us.

that does both ways though bud. when ufc fighters went to pride they struggled early aswell. Chuck v Rampage Vitor v Saku (only Saku's 5th fight) to name a couple. Pride fighters have found mixed success in UFC that's true, Cro Cop didn't do so well, but he's not exactly in prime. Nog is having success, A Silva obviously doing fine, Rampage was doin fine till retiring lastweek. Hendo still fighting pretty good. Wandy hasn't been winning lately, but still putting on amazing fights.

The UFC is a very exciting organization, consisting of some of the best fighters in the world, but I find troubling the lack of true international MMA knowledge of even some of their most die-hard UFC fans. They can run down every fighter in every UFC division, but stare blankly at you when you bring up such names as Shinya Aoki, Chris Horodecki, Eddie Alvarez, Alistair Overeem,Gesias Calvancante, etc. The same with terms such as DREAM, Sengoku, Shooto, Cage Rage, or even Strikefoce.

I don't think they ever showed Cage Rage (RIP) in the US. But PRIDE was indeed available here in the US on PPV (though very late at night), and it produced an English highlight show that aired on FSN. As for the current promotions, you can watch DREAM, Sengoku, and K1 (kickboxing is cool) on HDNet (my condolences to all youTime Warner Cable subscribers), and you can watch Strikeforce on Showtime.

as a boxer im going to have to disagree on the ropes vs cage issue. There have been plenty of fighters who have substained serious injuries from falling through the ropes. The cage is partly ment to stop this from happening- its for the fighters safety although it does play apart in helping grapplers gain position- that just adds to the strategic aspect of fighting- ex. couture

They had financial problems. I believe some side deals were made with the Yakuza from bad individuals and brought down the organization. Not entirely sure, just speculation. But I do know that PRIDE did not want to be sold, UFC stepped in when they were low and bought off the competition saying that they would still keep the PRIDE spirit alive. What a lie!!!

Pride was more interested in entertainment than the UFC, but also it was a purer form of MMA than UFC, because it had fewer rules than the UFC (e.g. it allowed soccer kicks, stomps, and knees to the head of a grounded opponent--these are illegal in the UFC); it took place in a ring instead of a stupid cage like the UFC and there was more drama, pageantry, and hype for fights; also, it was a lot more cosmopolitan because the fighters came from all over the world (most UFC fighters are American).

Basically, to me, even the UFC is brutal, I don't see the point of arbitrarily banning some moves (e.g. soccer kicks) that aren't apparently any worse than others which are permitted (e.g. elbowing someone in the temples inside his guard). I'm kind a new to Pride but after watching a few times I must say its on a whole new level than UFC. Pride fights are addicting to watch! I like the fighters and I like the rules, or lack of compared to the UFC. In a real fight you probably would do head stomps and soccer kicks. I also like the David vs Goliath matches like Minowa vs that huge giant Silva dude. C'mon, u dont see that in UFC. That giant dude's a freak of nature! There are several reason, but the two biggest are UFC had a higher money backing with Zuffa. UFC also is in a much bigger Market. It's kinda like in the NFL the Giants and Cowboys make tons of money because their cities are big market areas. Green Bay doesn't make anywhere near as much though they have a hug fanbase it's just a small Market. The bigger the Market the easier it is to get your product out. i loved pride, much better than ufc but most of these fact are not correct! You realy think rampage would have bin serious injured if the fight would have bin a cage? Anyway ufc fighters own a lot more than prid fighters did! A LOT!!! There is a HW division in UFC and you can weight as much as you want!

UFC looks amateur near Pride fights, i mean, Pride really was the "world championship", UFC looks like a "national tournament".
I dont agree with many fights at the same night, that was a big mistake.
I can use Arona vs Shogun as an example, it was a quick and ecxiting fight, but it could be a much more competitive fight, Arona was clearly exausted.
