  • OOO GUN SMITH CATS LOVE THAT SHOW!! That lil blond girl was so bad ass with those bombs!!

  • I gotta admit I'm jealous of you guys. This was moderately before my time.

  • Man I miss the old Sci-Fi Channel! I used to love those anime festivals. The Sy-Fy Channel right now is shit. There's like only 2 shows worth watching on that BS channel.

  • This was one of the festivals I missed. The year they did this festival I was without cable in Towson MD. Though I saw most of these animes on my own either through conventions or through rental and borrowing from friends. I caught the first Festival of Anime on SciFi and put up some things from it on my channel.

  • does any one remember the show line up for that I remember 8-man and demon city shinjuku, vampire hunter d and also record of lodoss wars there were some ova's from Yukito Kishiro (battle angel alita) I was like four or five when I saw this stuff and I wish I could find out what anime they were showing so I could rewatch it

  • Blood, guts, riots, tits and ass everywhere. Those were good times in anime. And the characters in them were overpowered but for some odd reason, they were appealing like Kenshiro from Fist of the Northstar or the characters off of Dangaioh either way I loved how raw they were back the.

  • Anyone remember a show of a dude going to several planets? I don't if it was the anime "Eyes". There were two specific scenes: the main charater was in a dance club and a "party" dude was demanding that he dance; another scene was the main character was in a TRON like world um... the background was a Dark Red with white-lines like a grid.

  • @freeman8201 eyes of mars

  • This was my first exposure to anime. I remember watching Lily Cat when I was around 10 and thought "Wow, I am not sure if this is something I should be watching". Of course I would just continue to watch because that is what you do at that age. Casshan and EYES of Mars are probably the most stand out nowadays.

  • When Television was in its golden days and creative. When Children, teenagers, and grown ups would watch this type of godly stuff as well as other shows from around the would and American shows and cartoons. When T.V. was for everyone. WHY did everything stupefy!? I need an explanation!!!!!! T.V. is not worth it anymore.

  • Hey, in the 1950s the head of the FCC called television a 'vast wasteland,' even though live TV dramas, serious documentaries (neither of which exist anymore) and popular classics like Lucy and the Honeymooners were being produced. Every period has its crap and gems - you just gotta be picky, that's all.

  • I know that very well. I'm just remembering of what I saw and I like what I saw during the 90's television a 'lot' more than what I see now. Considering how T.V. is turning out, in my opinion it's just not as fun as it used to be but I was younger when I was into it. I do like the oldies too btw since I grew up watching them as well. But, I mostly(always) watched cartoons and Anime since I wasn't into real life material when I was a kid.~

  • whoops - the FCC guy actually said that in 1961 - but close enough.

  • Ok so if this wasn't a response to me then sorry...But if it was then what are you talking about?

  • Ahhh, back when SciFi was worth watching.

  • @KenoshiAkai Back when Anime was worth watching too.

  • the sci-fi channel really sucks right now. What happen?

  • I don't work there any more - *that's* what happened!!!

  • were you on our lead influence in the forums untill they shut them down? that was the point anime and the entire sci fi went downhill.

i recognise two anime in that clip. i dont remember the other on sci fi. apprently they were.

  • I do so miss my dominion tank police....and my dirty pair.

    Good times, good memories, thanks

  • good stuff

  • The only thing that sucks is that even though Scifi has been airing anime again starting in 2007 to now, they didn't keep the anime festival. Seriously, that's something I'd like to see.

  • Except for One Piece and FullMetal Alchemist, why does it seem like the old ones were always better?

  • @Katana991: Maybe because they were unique back then?

  • Man, I remeber those days, man, Iria, Lily Cat, Vampire Hunter D, Tank Police, Akira... all those great anime Sci-fi used to show back in the day. Sci-fi blows now, but I still have to thank them because this got me into anime.

  • Black Cat, Lodoss War, 8th Man, Casshern, Demon City Shinjuku...Damn...twas good times

  • Thank you, StrikeJoe you gave me back some childhood.

  • Man i remember this when i was little i used to stay up with ma big brother and watch this. Man sci fi used to kick ass until they started putting on garbage. Then totally wiped out anime from there line up.

  • I remember seeing a promo for this once when I was four. But, looking at Sci-Fi now, I bet all the animes would've heavily edited and censored back then.

  • where can if find the 8 man after ending credits theme song!

  • wicked city does rule!

  • Yeah I don't know what the deal was with the live action "Casshern" probably the producer's choice. Like they did with "The Heroic Legend of Arislan" which they changed to "The Heroic Legend of Arslan".

  • Good fuckin times! Sci-Fi channel sure use to be good before it got all pretentious.

  • very true, it seems more commercial driven, and also mainstream appealing now a days.

  • good times! i wish someone would post the whole movie of 8 man, i also liked wicked city. watching this, this how i was introduced to anime

  • wicked city is one of the most bad-ass movie's ever!!!!:D!

  • me too man. 2 of my favorite anime films were through this program Lily Cat and Vampire Hunter D! Two classics that will never know time

  • THIS ONE was my favorite line up of all the festivals I've seen. I've got all these classics with the exception of Demon City: Shinjuku.

  • WHEN??????

  • Whenwhatwhowherewhyhow?

  • Hi i have some of this on vhs but i cant fine my tape with the anime that has the cat in it what was the name of that one? you see it in this video the cats face comes off and i think they were on a ship! thank if some one can help!

  • Y'know, I don't have the slightest memory of that one - all I can remember it was a very obvious 'Alien' knock-off. The cat face & two other shots next to it (the opening jaws behind a hole in the wall & people running away from a pursuing monster) are from that same movie. I might have its name buried away in a file somewhere - but don't hang around waiting for me to dig it up.

  • Hi we found 1 on absolote anime web sit i think it is it ! the name is Lily C.A.T. do you know this name? but the why it reads and the photo looks like the cat i think it is the right one if not do you know this movie? i do know this name !

  • Yes you're right - Lily C.A.T. it is/was! Glad you found that out.

  • I'm glad that Sci Fi put anime back on. Ani-mondays is a cool block. I hope it stays for good this time - most of my fave animes were ones I saw as a kid on Sci fi's Saturday Anime:) Fatal Fury, Robot Carnival - that's the stuff!

  • I remember when they had a bunch of Anime movies like Ninja Scroll late at night on Teletoon.

  • I remember watching a-ko for the first time then Akira followed by many others. I was obsessed. Now I can't find any of those movies anywhere in my area for purchase and it stinks. Sci-Fi needs to get back on it and show those movies again whether if its at 12am, 11pm, or even starting at 9 on Fridays or Saturdays as a special movie thing would be awesome. It was what made me watch more of the channel.

  • Ahaha I recorded that so long ago! I still have it on VHS. They showed Project A-Ko, 8th Man and Casshan! That was the shit... Man it sucks that Sci-Fi stopped it. I was little when I first saw 8th Man. They used to show the 1998 Guyver too.

  • lol i mean one girl is trying to kill her evil sister.

  • hey whats thet anime that one sister is trying to another and they have powers and are in space i dunno i was like 7 back in the day. And Also, i think they used to show sonic and all that as well

  • I love the festival of Anime I was so pissed when they stopped doing it. Now all Sci-fi has a those crappy movies put out by their tv movie wing.

  • That wasn't my first taste of anime but it kicked my obsession into overdrive. I even named my son after Casshan: Robot Hunter. My wife wouldn't let me name him Gohan.

  • I think this was 1994-5 because sci fi started in 1992. I think that first night was the first anime I ever saw except for Mapletown as a child. Too bad it wasn't all uncut. Nippon domo arigatou

  • Vampire Hunter D was actually my first anime and then project A-ko, then demon city shinjinku. I remember all this arond 93 thats when an unhealthy obession began which is why i have to sleep on the floor of my room now. But its worth it

  • lol, "grown up animation."

  • Sci Fi Channel Launches Anime Block on Monday

Broadcasting & Cable reports that on June 11, the Sci Fi Channel will premiere Ani-Monday, a weekly two-hour block of anime programming.

  • Yes, but that's crap.

  • I remember this! Why did they take it off? I think there were too many tight wad upset parents or something LOL. But I first saw these on the Sci-fi channel when I was gee I don't even know I think I was like 11-12? Then A-ko was the first anime I actually bought around the age of 13/14, gawd I wish this was still on tv :(

  • Iria, e.y.e.s of mars, demon city shijuku(sp), 8man after, all the project ako stuff, gallforce, robot carnival, galaxy express999, vampire hunterD, akira, macross, some others but i cant remember right now..

  • Vampire Hunter D

  • I remember this perfectly. This was my first time that I had seen the real deal of anime -- besides Volton, Robotech, and Unico. I was sick in bed with a really bad cold when I saw that particular anime week. Unfortunately, I missed out on Monday & Tuesday. But I got to see Casshan: Robot Hunter, 8 Man After, and Project A-Ko: Grey Side & Blue Side. :)

  • I remember this well, this was my first introduction to anime, and the first time I'd seen A-ko.

    Thus an unhealthy obsession began.

  • I remember seeing 8th Man.

  • Haha! I remember this! I was in like 8th grade....so what was that...93 or so? Nice post!

  • Aw man! If they had only just keep that sort of stuff on Sci fi channel! But will they anymore? Hell no! Thanks for at least showing me what might have been.
