  • People put too much emphasis on the knds. Look at the other rounds. Yes, Hearns pumps that and shows agression, but doesnt land that much. Ray on the other hand throws more combinations and lands more during those rounds. The biased commentators cant get their hands down whenever Hearns is throwing a jab, but when SRL throws a combo, you can hear a needle drop. Bullshit, the draw is OK.

  • 1 dislike.Floyd must have been here! LOL

  • I remember as a kid in the first fight a national newspaper here in the UK said Herans would win.I wrote in saying the opposite and they printed it.The 80s with Leonard,Hearns,Hagler and Duran were like the heavyweights of the early 70s.

  • Dos grandes boxeadores en el final de sus carreras...dos ídolos...!!

  • cant belive this era of boxing , Haggler , Leonard, Hearns , Duran

  • Comment removed

  • in the second fight hearns wins.

  • you only really think about the later rounds when the judges call the decision so of course you would think it would go to sugar ray

  • I think so. Hearns.

  • BULLSHIT! BULLSHIT! BULLSHIT!

  • cant see mayweather beating either of these guys at welterweight. mayweather has never fought someone as dangerous as these two. a couple of hearns straight rights would knock mayweather out and hearns has the length and speed to keep him on the jab. leonard could keep up with him, has more power and can take a punch better.

  • Hey guys, what do you get when you add the heart of Aturo Gatti with the speed and slickness of Zab Judah? SUGAR RAY LEONARD!

  • Thomas could outbox Leonard in 12 rounds, fact!

  • Leonard was terrific but not as technically superior as Mayweather. Sugar Ray Robinson was better than Leonard as well.

  • Great fights Hearn's won the second one though

  • I just love ray leonard and he was just amazing but i'm a boxing enthusiast who looks at different aspects of the sport. Mayweather is a different animal when it comes to the science of the sport of boxing....Floyd can make a very good fighter/boxer look real bad because of his technical ability. Let me assure all the boxing lovers posting here, floyd is a mix if you like of all the great boxers rolled into one. When you watch him he makes it look all so easy.

  • I'm just starting to watch Sugar Ray's fights. I watched at Hearns fights and I was impressed. Then I watch this and damn!! I never knew Sugar Ray was this good until now. I always see him in TV talking... My dad was right all along when he said Floyd jr can never beat Sugar Ray in both of their primes.

  • This indeed was Sugar Ray Leonard's highest achievement in the sport of Boxing & he know's it. This end result in the 1st fight should never had happened, he executed an amazing victory.

  • gotta love at the end of the second fight. bullshit bullshit bullshit

  • There was a terrific fighter that was virtually unhittable like Floyd back then, his name was Wilfred Benitez, They both were able to beat him. Hearns absolutely destroyed short opponents, Floyd would have had no chance against Hearns. Floyd vs Leonard would probably go similar to Leonard vs Benitez with Leonard eventually figuring him out. Mayweather has never faced anyone, he sure has you kiddies fooled, lol. Mayweather is a fraud. Floyd is no better than Hector Macho Camaco was.

  • @ckobo84 spot on mate, mayweather wouldnt even be known had he been in that era.....man TOMMY would have retired him, haglar would have done even worse to him if he dared get in the ring and i think ray would outpoint or late ko him

  • @ckobo84 you're an idiot.

  • Felicidades por regalarnos estos clásicos de box. Esas si eran buenas peleas. Saludos.

  • mayweather pacquiao how about leonard hearns.

  • wow the rematch was even better than the original

  • @m9ronaldo yeah and tommy got robbed like haglar....ray was the goldenboy with the fake smile and backstabber mentality and always got the nod

  • @Excecutioner147 U better believe it brotha, once U get an Olympic gold medal, U jus can't lose financially or image wise, look into it, it's the doorway 2 the highest order in sports.

  • @The24KaratBlack true but it doesnt mean you goto always steal others limelight...people who have met ray in person say they've lost respect for him as he boasts about how he went out his way to overshadow others even when he was retired...hes a real backstabber...he should have gone into polictics after he won gold medal...still he was a great boxer...but he wont no haglar or hearns, those guys were real warriors in the ring and gentlemen outside

  • @The24KaratBlack gotta agree bro, what do you think of andre ward? i feel he will just be like ray leonard maybe not as great but he's going to make waves, what do you think

  • I can't enjoy these kinds of fights. Its like they know how to box but chose to just get their brains beat out. Leanard would be in the fight with pac on speed and willingness to trade.

  • two legends!

  • Reason why these guys are great is because of their incredible entertaining fights. I mean even is Floyd is better, who gives a shit ? he has never been in a fight like this.

  • @TheBestBoxingGame Floyd hasn't been in a fight like this because of his defence and countering ability. Fighters never faced a technician like Floyd. He puts the fire out after the first few rounds. They literally become his prey. I never seen anything like it. You have to appreciate Floyds skill from a technical view. The way he takes his opponents completely out of their element is amazing. He's the greatest boxer alive today Bar none.

  • @oneworldkingdom Well he didnt face anyone of the caliber of leonard, hearns, duran and hagler. He did fight good fighters, but not like these.

  • Despite being down, Ray was never truly hurt in this fight. Hearns was on wobbly legs and almost knocked out on two occasions. Most of Hearns scoring was giving for chasing, and rather ineffectivily, flicking the left jab followed by a right that rarely landed.. Should pure stalking and jabs give you the fight ? I think not. Srl was throwing the harder combinations and landing the harder shots, something the somewhat biased commentators never mentions.

  • two classic wars between two great warriors

  • Great Fighters who never really grasped the importance of good defense.

  • This was def a golden age. You can't find more amazing skill, courage, commitment and heart. Man!! I want to go train when I see this! The leather!!

  • this is boxing

  • @abdi1983 O, I thought this was karate...

  • When you look back and you see what Ray was putting on Tommy, the judges called it correct!

  • @shockadellick Called what correct? The 1st fight Leonard won by KO, the scorecards are academic at that point. In the second fight, Leonard clearly won the 5th and 12th rounds. Hearns clearly won the 3rd, had Leonard in all kinds of trouble in 7th, dropped Leonard again in the 11th and won most of the rest of the rounds. SRL said himself he lost the 2nd fight. Are you referring to another fight?

  • who win?

  • i prefer boxing before which has 15 rounds

  • These people were crazy.

  • Sugar ray leonard, excelente boxeador de todos los tiempos, inteligente pelea que da gusto ver varias veces y sobre todo la primera pelea con tomy herms, que eran dos gladiadores.

  • For 2 supposed has-beens...beats anything by Mayweather I have seen in a long time. In fact, still an entertaining, action fight by legends

  • if mayweather was in their era mayweathers 1st word would be steroids

  • @xXxGildartxXx No, because steroids wasn't such an issue back then. Plus it isn't steroids that's the issue anymore, it's the stuff that is so complex even a blood test isn't guaranteed to detect it. During this time it was a pure sport, and even if somebody used steroids back then, they were shitty and would make you robotic and musclebound. That's not the way you want to be when Boxing.

  • @PureBoxerP4P then whats teh different right now? back then tyson was a fucking killing machine he was great he was fucking fast he had the best defense and he hit so fucking hard and his in the heavyweight division nobody accused him of using steroid because floyd wasnt there

  • @xXxGildartxXx No, it's because steroids weren't so complex and prevalent back then. Tyson also was never refused to give a blood test, which doesn't help Pacquiao.

  • @PureBoxerP4P no nobody tested tyson and pacquaio does do bloodtest but mayweather keeps on making excuses at first he ask pacquaio to "just take the bloodtest and will fight" then pacquaio agreed then he wanted a 14 days cutt off date wtf? seriously floyd mayweather ducked so many fighters

  • @xXxGildartxXx Pacquiao didn't agree to shit. Just because Bob Arum, the lying scumbag, says Pacquiao agreed to a test means nothing. Everyone in Pacquiao's camp is still crying "we don't have to take a test"...If Floyd is using the test as a ducking tactic, then why not call his bluff? Take the test if everyone is so sure Floyd will find another way not to fight, and if you're clean.

  • WOW - Look how quick their hands are. Incredible.

  • @lasherza no. Back then you had to box with 8oz gloves mostly (not until much later when SRL started making demands, especially in the hagler fight where he forced hagler to fight with 12 oz gloves in a 20x20 ring instead of the usual 18x18) and the thumb wasnt a fixed part of the glove.. so you could fight better and quicker.

  • REAL MEN. FACT

  • Comment removed

  • wow thats what roberto duran should of done

  • Hell yes they do fight like this still gatti/ward pac/morales corales/castillo i could go on

  • people dont fight like this anymore.

  • Man...in certain fights Leonard showboats, dances, tries to stay out of harms way with his awesome footwork, but DAMN if he dont bring it when hes in the mood to fight

  • DAMN 14TH ROUND??? LOL.

  • I dont care if Hearns should won the second fight when Sugar was past of his prime ,in the first fight they were both in their best

  • @EvanderHolyfield7 oh so hearns did age while sugar was?

  • @EvanderHolyfield7 expressed my self wrong. r you saying that leonard aged and hearns didnt? lol

  • @chaka943 no im not ,im saing that he was past of his prime

  • @EvanderHolyfield7 thats what you said 3 months ago. You gave the impression that hearns was not aging as well

  • That second fight was a brutal war and the only way the fight is a draw is if you give Leonard 2 point rounds in 5 and 12, or you give him 7 of the 12 rounds. At best, Leonard gets 6 rounds, which means the knockdowns should have made the difference. Yes, Hearns was in serious trouble, especially in round 12, but he never stopped fighting back and he landed some good shots of his own. Hard for me to make that a 2 point round. Hearns should have got the decision, no doubt.

  • @carbert68 I love watching the fight like this. Both fighters were trying to knock out each other all the time and none of them gave up. In the first fight, I thought that the ref. stopped the fight too early.

  • @MrDerake If he hadn't stopped it, Hearns would have maybe won an undeserved decision, if SRL wouldn't have been able to get a TKO in the 15th..

  • that left hook to the body on 0:47 sould be illegal that was attempted murder

  • at least the crowd know it haha

hearns dropped leonard twice and it was ruled a draw? scoring was always funny with sugar ray leonard bouts, just look at the hagler fight for example.

  • there is only one sugar ray and it aint leonard, btw leonard lost that 2 fight, and coming back one moth later after hagler officially retires?gimme a fucking break

  • @pacholito24 not up to you decide, Ray Robinson said Ray Leonard Deserved the Title of Sugar.

  • @InternationalBoy where is the link?

    i google it,cant find it

  • I still think Hearns should have been given the decision in the 2nd fight.

They were very evenly matched. Both fighters had each other in trouble several times, but those 2 knockdowns definitely should have sealed the deal as far as points go. In a fight this close, with two 10-8 rounds to one fighter, it should never end in a draw. Period. I swear it's not possible. Tommy should have won it.

  • @FSMNoodlyAppendage jmm should of one the first fight agaiinst pac
