i am glad i found this video! i've been hunting on youtube for an hour at least trying to find the video where freddy and a double dance up and down the stairs!
produced by full force and also written by them kool g rap and jalil and is a single from 1989 not on any album but also on their first greatest hits also with the rare non album songs tricky trick and in the beginning.
Since nobody's biting on the "Who actually wrote this?" question, I'll just tell you Kool G Rap actually wrote this song. I checked the credits when I got this when it came out because it didn't necessarily sound like a "whodini" flow (whatever that means :-)). I'm not dissing Whodini at all! It's just interesting knowing that (and you are familiar with Kool G) and listening again. You can really hear the Kool G Rap influence and style. Listen again and put Kool G's voice in your head...
i didn't know this until last year but whodini was a hit overseas before they blew up in the states. jermain dupri danced for them back in the day. he was sosodef..
Run-DMC dropped the 12" of "It's like that"/"Sucker MC's in '83 their self-titled album dropped in '84...and though Magic's Wand and Haunted House of Rock from Whodini dropped earlier it didn't make the noise outside of NY "It's like that" and "Sucker MC's" made. Whodini really didn't make Run-DMC noise until the "Five Minutes of Funk"/"Friends" 12" dropped in '84. I love Whodini...a lot. But, 'paved the way' just because they came out first is a little strong. I love them, though.
They were contemporaries who existed at a golden time in Hip Hop. So the argument is pointless. They toured together also. Whodini was the first rap act to record and do shows in England.
such an awesome song

Has a New Jack Swing sound. Kid 'N Plays used this production style 2 years later in 1988.

LOL I'm not sure what to make of this. I liked the song and the music video bits, but the Nightmare stuff (as usual) creeped the shit out of me. XD

They just don't make videos like this anymore. Whodini paved the way for just about everyone after them...including RUN-DMC!!!
bigdaddyrakim 4 years ago
Actually, Run-DMC came before them.

I stand corrected. Whodin's first record dropped in 1983, Run-DMC dropped in '84.
