If you want to improvise on flamenco you have to respect de rythm of the compas.

For example, for Alegrias, Soleares and Bulerias, which are based on 12 beats, you have to put the accent on the 3, 6, 8, 10 and 12.

You can devide in 2 groups of 6 beats. First group : Accent every 3 beats, Second group : accent every 2 beats.

Try to do it,...

You will see that it gives a totally different color on what you are playing.

@guitarspectre Hey nothing wrong with what he is doing, I was a little too harsh. The name is getting posted all over YouTube with anything remotely sounding with a Flamenco influence. Flamenco has strict timing and styles and if one isn't in any one of those then whatever we play can't be called Flamenco by any means. Even if it's new Flamenco the rules don't bend, influence of other tonalities are ok, but one can't be out of specifics rhythm and timing of each individual category, never.

He's a very good Flamenco guitarist, and his technique isn't really as bad as some people on here are marking it to be. Good picado technique, executed rasqueados well, good legato and open string rolls. Sure, he fluffed notes on a few of the legato runs (which are a lot harder to do on a nylon string guitar) and sweeps, but I also notice that he's using his nail like a pick (which is an obvious indicator that he plays electric guitar, too--presumably metal). You'll lose a bit of accuracy there.

I mean he is claerly vey skilled. What just bothers me is that he and a lot of people don't realize that the Classical and Spanish guitar world are about accentuating the beauty of the instrument. Every note has to sound clear and beautiful. Pretty sad really...I can see he is clearly skilled but he does hit a lot of bum notes when doing sweeps and fast licks. The key is to build up speed gradually, it is not fun but accuracy/ correct muscle memory/ and repetition is the key to playing well...get to work!!

the main difference between flamenco styles is not the playing technique but the rythms that they are improvised to he is still using the same scales, picado and arpeggio techniques just roughly improvised without compas or rythm.

Granaina, taranta, etc. They have their own...I dont know how to say it, "aire"(in spanish) or..."feel" I think it is the word. This guy is just playin random stuff and his technique is not flamenco. His "toque"(plucking technique or something in english) is way too weak to be called flamenco. Flamenco is strong...

Listen to "Tomatito-Rondeña" and "Manolo Sanlucar-Oracion". Those two are Rondeñas, the rythm is not defined, but you will hear the difference inmediatly. This is NOT Flamenco. He is only a fast guitarist, but not Flamenco guitarist. In flamenco, speed is not as important as the feeling, tempo, and powerful. Also, sweep picking isn't a flamenco technique, and he's not playing a flamenco style (as bulerías, fandangos, tarantas...), he only use some frecuent intervals and armonies of flamenco guitar.
