I generally don't enjoy videos from Splash much - the talent's usually great, but the background noise is always loud. This set of vids was better than usual; good job AKB or whoever recorded them.
Carrie, of course, is always great - one of my all-time favorite singers. (Right up there with Natalie...)

I don't think so. While Carrie goes pretty high...it's really not very enjoyable up there. She using a "pharyngeal voice" to get there, whereas Natalie Mixes. In return, Carrie will have no legit voice after she tears herself apart, whereas Nat will still have the flexibility and ease of singing that comes with having proper technique.
You can hear how this becomes a problem at 1:50 for Carrie. Since she's not phonating properly she breaks into a fluffy head voice.
I'm pretty sure it was a conscious choice of Carrie's to go into her head voice around 1:50. I've never met anybody who has had more control over each and every note she sings. I have no doubt that her voice will last...
That means absolutely nothing. We all know that talent is not the only factor that goes into being cast in a show. Hell, talent isn't even the BIGGEST thing that goes into being cast in a show.
There have been studies done that prove that the Pharyngeal technique can actually be beneficial to your voice. It's even been known to help with nodes.
PERFECTION! I LOVE THIS WOMAN!!!!

Loud and awkward. Maybe those flapping arms will fly her away from this mess of vocal bullshit.
