Despite the rave reviews the "Motion Picture" got I still view this one, the second installment, to be better because of the upgraded battle scenes (compared to the original series). It got better as they came out in terms of visual effects, but this was epic compared to the first one which was almost entirely dramatic. Here the special effects was what many a Star Trek fan wanted. A reasonable looking battle scene with some cash pumped into it.
